I was referring to the fact that you said you hadn't been and then said you had but it was a while ago. A long time since I was there as well but will be having a look in September.
Reason that William the Conqueror built a castle there was it was the largest place outside London at the time of the conquest. In the Middle Ages only 3 places in England had a population over 30,000, London , York and Norwich.

Maybe they should start protesting at the KC to bring about a victory tonight.

Hard to believe, but some places are as good as and even better in the eyes of people not from Hull than Hull. Which is why they get more visitors. More to see and do in the area could be a reason.

It is still the 6th most visited city on day trips even if you count just visitors to Norwich itself.

 

It may be that Cas I just found the 800,000 a week a non possibility.
I remember an estimated 100,000 visiting Hull City centre for the last day of the light show last January.
It was complete mayhem and something we will never see again on the streets of Hull.

According to a study done in 2013 they had over 10million day visitors. Must admit I was surprised that York didn't beat them. Though a lot of the millions visiting the Norfolk Broads will have a day out there.
