When all are fit we have options from the bench to change things , to me when I look at the bench recently I don't really see this , more a case of fringe players who aren't quite good enough to make the starting eleven.
I think with the odd occasion when LJ pushed Flint up front to give some height, on the odd occasion it worked, maybe letting LJ believe that was what was needed..but I think it's a bit of a red herring, cus now every time when one of our players looks up to see a pass, it's easy to see the big man (Diedhiou) up front...it's become the easy ball.. This has become a big part of the problem..So IMO, if LJ wants Diedhiou part of the setup he either needs to drop him back behind Reid or become a super sub..
I don't see the a problem with diedhiou being in the starting eleven , we can still play possession based football, the problem is the rest of the team pumping it up to him at the earliest opportunity, it's some time ago now but surely he was in the team before his injury and we didn't do that, I think it's a question of lack of confidence and looking for the easiest option.
The last XI picked were incapable of keeping the ball and playing it to feet. Pick two lumps up front, Fielding instructed not to roll it out, Magnusson to throw it in the mixer, Kent plays with the unrestrained exuberance of a child means that is an XI that will not set out with the intent of retaining possession, and keeping it simple and quick to feet. That is instruction and the selection choice of the Manager. There is a lack of ability in certain areas with CB fulfilling full back roles and a Keeper whose distribution is schizophrenic, but that is by exacerbated by the decisions of the Manager. Fielding's kicking is not that bad ... But he is being asked to land it on a postage stamp when he could roll it out to a player - City supposedly were a team that values possession! The remarks of others prior to the Cardiff game regarding BCFC football were correct. These remarks were not made earlier in the season. The team for over a month has been playing the ball longer, passing distances have increased from similar to Fulham to up with Cardiff, and passing accuracy likewise. It is no coincidence. Mr Johnson was being disingenuous. The problem is all of his own making.
