Just wanted to say that whilst I'm properly annoyed about losing a 2-goal lead, and deeply irritated by Leeds' horrible tactics and more importantly the fact they took a point with that display, I thought we played very well indeed tonight. Gerrard and Chester were immense at the back, Corry Evans really impressed me in all aspects of the midfield role and both strikers played very well. I hope that performance will persuade some fans on these boards that we ARE one of the better sides in this league. We need to be more clinical and turn performances into wins but we are one the best footballing sides in this division. We've seen QPR who passed it around neatly but didn't break through us once, and Leeds who are supposedly a really good attacking side but just played disgusting, cheating tactics tonight and the players everyone raves about (Becchio, Snodgrass) are just utter thugs. There were elbows flying all over the place, ripping Fryatt's shorts, knocking Rosenior out and loads of diving about too. Anyway I was trying not to focus on that in this post, the point was that we are better than that shower and aren't far off QPR at all! We are one of the top sides in the division and we can aim high with this squad!
No as we would be winning not drawing all the time but its an improvement on the first few months of the season
Just think what this young side could turn out like when they have been together a few more months. Not sure how long the leeds side or Dqpr have been together but we are not far off.
We are a good side but not quite good enough. We are still lacking bit of height and strength, experience and it is an extremely new team and partnerships still need to form. This coupled with our poor start means we will more than likely finish outside the play offs but it will be good practice for next season. Pearson is creating a new tem and it needs time to work but when it does hopefully we will be right up there, be it next season or season after
We just need to turn these draws into wins. I also thought we played particularly well in the first half, Possibly the best half I have seen this season, we really created lots of chances and McLean just needs a goal to get him going. I thought Fryatt and McLean had very good games and it was only Schmicel who saved leeds from a good thumping. I did predict a 2-2 draw on a thread yesterday, but I think we deserved more after that first half display. If only we hadn't conceded the first half goal. I think a mid table finish beckons, but most of us would have taken that at the start of the season to be honest.
I said last night after the game, and stand by it this morning, if Pearson had 'his team' from the start of the season then we would have walked the league this year. You only have to look at how much the team is changing. Last night only 4 of the starting 11 (Rosenior, Gerrard, Dawson, Harper) started the game at Elland Road (just under 3 months ago) and only 8 out of the match day squad of 17 (4 starters + Duke, Solano, Cairney, Simpson) were involved in the corresponding fixture. I stand by the theory that given the opportunity to bring in perhaps 3 or 4 more of his own signings in the summer that Pearson will produce a top quality side.
Spot on Legend. Because of the financial handcuff NP was held in we are playing catch up. Had same conversation with some mates last night. We have got some bloody good footballers in there. This team is young and talented. With the age it is they need to learn to finish teams off and also to learn to take the pressure when under the cosh.
We won't be going up this season but next season our rivals had better watch out as I suppose Allams will back some new signings in the summer.. enjoyed the game last night, great atmosphere, our football first half was brill.. some things don't change though.. dirty leeds... I reckon that Rosenior was payback for Ash's elbow on Becchio in previous game.. oops what a hypocryte but I'm glad he did it now..
were w.i.p. at the moment but thats ok and maybe we can get to having less loanees in for next season. heaing in the rihgt dirction.
You might be right tigercity, it wasn't the only time. They were clattering people after the ball had gone throughout the match. Their entire game plan is centred on roughing up thr opposition and yet they have the cheek to claim they are a good attacking side!
Only Guzan, Gerrard and Evans were loanees last night, the rest of the starting 11 and all the subs are signed on permanent deals
not so bad then its best not to have any in critical piositions like fraizer campble that get lost the summer you go up. cardiff wont go up which might make it easier for us to get gerrard. the keeper sitaution is complicated with mannone and duke so well see how that unfolds. might be a new permanent one from those. evans will go bcak to mu but we have devitt and cairney developing for there. i wonder how long dawson can hold left back. i feel hopeful.
The loan transfer deadline is not finished yet, watch this space! how many loan signings can we have?
I'm happy to accept we're very much an improving side and no-one going into a game against us now is going to think it will be easy, a couple of loans later in the month and we could be really good. We haven't managed to gain any advantage over the play-off placed teams we've played recently, so I suspect a play-off place is now out of reach, but just improving our football and moving up the league as far as we can is decent when you consider where we were at the start of this season.
dont want any more loanees. room to manouvre is good but we have players that need to get used to playing with each other.
We can have as many emergency loan players as we like, but as we can only name a maximum of five in any matchday squad, it's unlikely that we'll add more than two.
