This season has to be Wenger’s last. Ian Wright very good on him, obviously loves the man but said it’s now like watching Muhammed Ali fighting Larry Holmes. Someone has to tell him it’s time to stop.
I'm listening to arsnol fans whinging about today's game, some sounding suicidal, bitching about Wenger, they really have no idea what it's like to be a proper football fan
They are 6th in the premier league, the F A Cup holders and have just lost a cup final to one of the best teams in the world, and still in the Europa cup with a fair chance of winning it, get a flipping grip because there are 86 other professional teams that would love to be in that position.
I have to listen to Arsenal-supporting mates whinging in the pub every Sunday afternoon. I regularly tell them they should try supporting QPR and they would really have something to moan about, but it doesn't stop them. Gave it a miss today because I was too hung over from my rugby binge. Just as well.
That’s probably right, but sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. There’s many a club that, in my bumbling opinion, have waved tutty-bye, Mr Derek to a manager when times is ‘ard, only to appoint a first-rate ****wit-twunt-monkey as a replacement. Recent examples? I give you: Southampton changing Puel for Twatfeatures Albion changing Pulis for Twatfeatures Stoke changing Arseface for Twatfeatures Christ, I’m bored.
Open another bottle Ubes. In general I agree with you. I’ve been a big fan of Wenger, his teams play in the right way if you like football. And I reckon the Arse will struggle whoever comes in after him, just like Urinals after Ferguson. But there’s something sad about a great fading away rather than walking out at their peak.
Malbec opened and being consumed. I’m beginning to realise why I stopped drinking alocohol for four and a half years now. My liver must feel like Jordan’s front bottom. Fergie was pretty smart and ****ed off sharpish just as soon as he realised somebody was going to have to build a brand new team at Old Fartford. Moyes got a bit of a hospital pass, in my opiniononio, and made a reasonable fist of things under the circumcisions. Whoever comes into the Arse (snigger) will demand a hefty transfer budget to compete, then will fail, bemoan the lack of funds, then will shortly be replaced by some hairy penis like Pardew.
It’s the disease I have been harping in about for years on here Best ignore them get our own house in order first : QPR a great little club with soul Too many infected by the armchair and the sky remote imo
They were weren't they? Imagine losing a League Cup Final 3-0. Thankfully we won the only League Cup Final we've ever appeared in 3-2.
I do recall sensational drinking sessions before and after when the 1986 League Cup Final should have taken place.
They have started Monday night football in Germany. Tonight 25,000 Borussia Dortmund fans declined to attend their 1-1 home draw with Augsburg, taking the attendance down to only 54,000, in protest over kick off times that inconvenience fans. Hopefully the strong supporter power in Germany can stop the TV ruining their game as well. Dortmund’s management had an announcement read out which said that they respect the views of the fans and will argue against Monday night football and other TV led kick off times when the contract is up for discussion.
I quite like that idea. We should all stop going to televised league games. I wonder what the consequences would be if everyone done it?
In England I should imagine Sky and BT would use camera angles which made the stadium look full and put dubbed crowd noises behind the commentary. People would whine about it on football forums and that would be it. Because for the most part the fans have no formal stake in their clubs, unlike in Germany. And the owners of English clubs are keener on the telly dividend than anything else. Sorry for the cynicism.
We receive around £6.4 million from the EFL deal plus £100k for every home game televised, in our position it's money we desperately need so I don't see anything changing in the future, turkeys don't vote for Christmas. Dortmund's famous 'Kop' looking a bit thin tonight...
Difficult to do if the stadium is empty. A few mates of mine went to the 2006 World Cup Final in Berlin. Because the majority of the 69,000 crowd were corporate they piped singing and crowd noise through the PA to add to the atmosphere.
Horrible. At least that was FIFA, where our expectations are already below zero. Perhaps the only places to look for an authentic experience is in the lower leagues and countries not yet infected by Sky.
