    Ah, the Prefabs. Possibly my most loved band of the 80s. I loved and lost, played left back and became a grown up to their stuff.

    Having finally watched “The Old Grey Whistle Test” from Saturday and loved every second of it, I just looked up one of the interviewed guests, Mollie Marriott, daughter of the incomparable Steve. Glad I did, she has certainly inherited her dad’s pipes!

    The Founder of the biggest band in the World, Brian Jones, Multi-Instrumentalist of The Rolling Stones was born Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones on this day in Cheltenham in 1942.

    Long-time Rolling Stones bass guitarist Bill Wyman said of Jones, "He formed the band. He chose the members. He named the band. He chose the music we played. He got us gigs. ... he was very influential, very important, and then slowly lost it – highly intelligent – and just kind of wasted it and blew it all away."

    He became the first member of "The 27 Club" (Music Artists that died aged 27) when he was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool in 1969

    Here are a couple of classic songs that he provided the Guitar riff for...
