Indeed. This was about five minutes away from probably being our worst day of the season. As it is, I think I reluctantly take this set of results (particularly if Watford, just three points ahead of us, lose tonight). A WBA equaliser would have been nice, and a Leicester winner. But hey ho.
We won't start with two up front. But everyone playing in front of Romeu needs to be getting closer to Carillo, when we're in possession. From what I saw on my ****ty stream today, we never really had possession, whatever the stats may say. We weren't ever comfortable on the ball, put it that way.
Saw on a chart somewhere that we are 7th in both Possesion and Pass accuracy. Which is great, but every team in the bottom 8 play direct football. We have Carrillo, Austin to play that type of style with Sims, Tadic, Redmond, Ward-Prowse etc to put balls in. Maybe Pellegrino has decided to make a change finally!
That's been the problem for most of the season, Pellegrino plays the sole striker but doesn't give him enough support from the rest of the team. I didn't catch the game at all today but by the sounds of it we were lucky to get a point from a pretty dire game?
Our passing and movement has been poor all season though? I suspect our possession and pass accuracy in our opponents half has been less impressive.
I think we just about deserved a point. From a pretty dire game. A neutral watching that might argue that neither side deserved anything at all.
I'd say that Hesketh was further ahead a couple of years ago, but has been injured a lot which has held up his development. My personal opinion is that Hesketh is the slightly more talented one of the two but they each have their own specific qualities.
It sounded like a game that deserved to finish nil-nil, and to be dropped from the MOTD schedule altogether. So pretty much a standard Burnley game.
A positive atmosphere around the whole ground next week could make a big difference to the team too. Imagine how positive everyone would start the game with Sims and Gabbi in the line up!
One point is better than no points, but we're really running out of winnable games. Need six or more points from our next three in the worst way.
