But then we basically had subbed off our entire central midfield haha. Yes I'm advocating us starting Gabbi with Carrillo going forward. But equally I'm not advocating going into matches without a midfield.
We scored a late equaliser! That makes a nice change. Given how close everything still is, that's a decent point. Need to back it up though which is the problem. Difficult to see us beating Stoke (or anyone except West Brom), but we really need to.
First time where I think they have a greater chance of surviving than not. Just think how gutted Newcastle fans must be. They drop two points, us and Bmouth pick up late points. They go from top half, to being even further in the mix than they started the day, what with Brighton and Huddersfield jumping ahead of them.
I've said it a few times but i think Sims is the closest player to the player Pellegrino wants that we have in the squad right now, so i'm hopeful now he's starting to establish himself our form might actually improve. I'll clutch at any straw right now.
Getting a late equaliser or winner does wonders for a team's spirit and belief. Let's hope that Pellegrino has learned a few more things from this as well.
Only won 5 games - West Brom only team to win less. Yes it was nice to get a late goal, but another absolutely awful performance. Fed up with saying that's a decent point, now we have to back it up. We never do.
And one who doesn't seem particularly injury prone, which is something of a luxury these days with strikers who can score. Although maybe if we actually gave him a decent amount of game time, he would break down!
Just looked to see who Palace had to play....you know the top team that would gift 3 points to our opponents. Their next 3 games are Spurs, United and Chelsea....wow.
And that's a WBA who, erm, aren't exactly Man City. Half the league are in danger of relegation, and WBA have still found a way to basically get relegated with 10 games to spare. We shouldn't exactly celebrate at being able to beat them (not that you are).
I can’t believe you wrote that last sentence. He got the assist, playing exactly how a centre forward should play, just as he did in the last game. He just isn’t a lone striker, so needs someone like Gabbi alongside him.
Said before the game I'd like to see Gabbi start alongside Carrillo as I think it'd bring the best out of both of them. I don't think it'll happen but I'd start the pair up front against Stoke.
So again let’s keep positive as you imply and recognise that whatever the limitations of the previous 88min or so the manager made the right substitute choice, that at least is welcome!! Plenty wishing he was gone, he isn’t, he’s staying and an unbeaten run is getting longer! Well done Saints
