That reminds me, Blues Rocker, Johnny Winter was born on this day in Beaumont, Texas in 1944.... This is his great cover of a Stones classic on OGWT in 1974...
Pretty stoked to hear post hardcore band Underoath are returning with a new album next month. This is from their new album Erase Me:
Really? I caught the last 15 minutes but have it to catch up on. The one on later from The late 70s looks good - recorded that too. Did you notice in Sky Arts, the Marc Bolan story was on at 7pm. That looks good - yet to seee that.
The Old Grey Whistle Test Live had a lot of talking about how it came into existence and the bands that featured on it, but showed only short clips of the actual music. The live acts were ok but I suppose those that are still alive narrows it down a bit. Overall quite disappointed with the show especially as I had been looking forward to it. We've recorded the 70's programme as well, will catch up with it later. Don't have Sky so can't see the Marc Bolan story. I'm not too bothered but Mrs Game is not happy.
Music birthdays don't get any bigger than a Beatle one! and today the quiet, reflective and spiritual one, George Harrison would have been 75, having been born in (guess where?)...Liverpool in 1943. He was a great Guitarist with a very distinctive style often copied since and his songwriting was up there with Lennon and McCartney in terms of quality by the time that the band split. He was also instumental in popularising Eastern Sitar music in the West and mixing it with Rock/Pop music .
Happy 59th Birthday to Mike Peters, Frontman and Songwriter of Welsh New Wave band The Alarm, who was born on this day in Prestatyn in 1959...
