I’ve seen a clip online. Huge credit to Gary Weaver from Sky for highlighting what the protests were for - mainly naming the name change and the removal of concessions.
Nothing like a bit of civil disobedience to start the weekend. Protests worked IMHO if it got noticed and discussed on tv. Actually ended up a good atmosphere considering stadium was only half-full. I was in East stand and couldn’t see what was in the banner that a couple of lads were displaying at the front. I presume some form of “Allam Out”? One other fan seemed to take exception and tried to snatch it away, but actually the stewards seemed quite happy to let them “protest”. Although I did see a couple of police having an animated conversation with one of the banner holders at half-time on the concourse. Oh and what about the police in front of north stand? Seemed to subdue them for a good 20 minutes.
Hate to admit it mate but you're right. Never before the closure of West Stand Upper have I heard so much apologist ****e and booing of protests than I have in West Stand Lower. In reality the top tier was at worst the sound of slightly irritated tutting generally but the lower tier seems even worse. Not as many blankets/flasks either.
Today's protest was a massive sack of ****. Seriously- that was embarrassing. 200 balls from one end of the ground. Whistles throughout the game before capping off with a mock pitch invasion, that was foiled. I'm all for protesting, I'm anti Allam. But that was the worst organised 'protest' I have ever seen. The Allams I'm sure will be pissing themselves at how **** that effort was. It wasn't even worth the effort. There were a grand total of 6 people in the South stand with backs to the game for a minute. We've made ourselves look silly ****s on national TV as we literally can't even organise a protest properly. The words piss up in a brewery spring to mind.
Yeah it just said 'ALLAM OUT' they went on the pitch at the end as well , not sure if they got on the Sky camera but they were behind the player interview
The police being there made it kick off more than it would have for the ten minutes following the goal. Their presence sometimes makes things worse. They must have had intelligence that some sort of invasion was going to happen second half to move there.
Have to disagree with this 100% The game had to be stopped for all the balls thrown and Sky constantly mentioned the protests. Some people just like to criticise their own fans
Didn’t the balls do their job? Stop the game and get the media talking about what it’s happening? The whistles weren’t as effective, I admit.
My first thought at kick off was "where is everyone, have they kicked off early" Just could not believe how empty the ground was. Listening to "John" on Humberside before the game, Allams are best owners we have had, slagging off other supporters I would like to say to him if the Allams were brilliant owners then wouldn' they do all they could to fill the stadium, if they want the supporters to get behind the team then surely the more they can get into the stadium the better. So glad we won just to shut those up that think any protest affects the team. Thought the atmosphere was great, plenty of support for the team, protests did not disrupt the game to any great extent. Team played better than I've seen for ages. Those two guys holding up the banner were great walking right onto the pitch at full time behind the camera. They were chased into East Stand by the stewards but think they got away. Roll on Tuesday.
I bet against us every single time we play. If we win I’m delighted, if we lose against my wishes I at least have the cushion of a few quid. I really don’t see what’s weird.
