Modern life. I know this is my age speaking but people do not take responsibility for their actions nowadays. It is probably the government's fault - everything else is.

It's all about taking responsibility for your own environment Arturo. Most of the fault lies with those that actually do these things - but a little also lies with those who see the results but do not clear it up.

Evening from a cold Bucks. Last night my half hour trip from ferry to hotel took an hour and a half due to unannounced road works. I discovered parts of Sussex I had never been to previously.

If, as you say, it's a stealth tax then residents of CI and IoM shouldn't have to pay it, but we do. CI falls under BBC South West, and I'm not interested in what's happening in Devon and Cornwall. I assume that IoM is in the BBC North West region.

Morning all from a cold island. According to the JEP, the temperature is going to be 7 degrees below the average for the time of year.

Since when was paying for a service a tax? You can argue that the BBC model is out of date if you like. So what do you do? Turn it into another ITV - paid for by advertising which indirectly puts up other prices. Personally I like the BBC and do not consider an inflationary rise unreasonable. We all have national and regional bulletins.

I know this seems draconian, but the threat of automatic prison sentence for this might work. I think the sentencing for this act must take into account how difficult it is to catch people doing it.

And being used to fund 145 'local democracy reporters', to the tune of £8m pa, in newspapers around the UK -at a time when many are shedding staff due to poor sales. Somewhat suspiciously, a disproportionate number of them have been 'allocated' to Scotland.

I don't care if bugs bunny collects it do I? Personally I pay by direct debit as I suspect many people do.
What it funds of course is not a matter for the government as some might have you believe but for the corporation to decide. Not surprising then if a nationalised industry like the BBC is inefficient is it?

Could you please keep all your political narrow mindness were it should be on the politics page were it belongs. Frankly Bolton your constant views are rather sad and bore a lot of people. Yes you make some good points but mostly your views are so blinkered that they make very poor reading.

It would be nice to attract a wider number of people to these boards but to do so ramming personal political view points down peoples throats constantly is not the way to do it. Everyone has a right to an opinion Bolton but please keep your political ones to the Politics thread where people who want to read them can without them infringing on those that do not. Thank you for reading this and hopefully maybe a few others ( and the Mods will agree)

Don't read them if you don't like them - or put me on 'Ignore'. That's why I no longer can post in the Politics thread - I ignore its creator...

I was going to make the same point - perhaps the Mods can remind us all that this is supposed to be the Nest. Since Bolton has me on ignore perhaps he could start his own SNP Fake News thread.
