Just back from the hospital, had a full bladder and couldn't go They put in a catheter and emptied me out, I have been once since I got home and it seems ok Fingers crossed
Morning all from a cold and frosty rural France. Just have to throw the cases into the car then set off on my 500 km drive north and the ferry port. As is the custom I will pull off the road about midday for a meal. Noon until 2.00 pm is a good time to travel as the roads become quiet, but as I probably will not arrive at the hotel tonight until after the restaurant is closed I will make sure I am fed. Hoping that I can get some decent WiFi, but it can be very hit and miss. The ferry now provides it free of any charges, but depending on the weather the signal can come and go. Have a good day whatever you have planned.
Safe trip OFH. Looks like it will be dry for you but 'shiver me timbers' and a NE wind. Bit depressed today: Trump thinks arming teachers will solve school shootings Is there any hope? And a Russian curler, only allowed to compete after Russian state doping is exposed, pleads guilty to doping. He competes with his wife who appears to be clean: Thoughts: Why do curlers dope? Not exactly an athletic sport? The level taken would give him no advantages. So why do it? How long before she gets a divorce? Sick world But onwards and upwards. I'll be back in blightie tomorrow but in the comfort of a warm plane
The irony is that Russia were banned for doping and had to take part individually and still gets caught
Apparently he might of taken it to steady his nerves. But as it has been on the list for 2 years how did he think he would get away with it?
I suspect that the first two words in that sentence don't belong - he doesn't think, he reacts by opening his gob and spouting stupid. I really don't know what leads him to say something so stupid - another big backhander from the NRA? Having said that, if Theresa May tried it with teachers here I think she'd find herself staring down a few barrels... Re the curling doper - I believe that the drug he took, meldonium, is one that aids concentration. The sport itself isn't exactly an athletic challenge, but is one that requires a high degree of concentration, especially at that level.
Currently on the high seas but there is nothing to see as it is dark. Wifi comes and goes, but it hasn't got me shouting at it yet. Rather doubt that I could stream a football match. Very few crossing tonight. Should get through border control quickly, unless........ I must not try a joke with them.
Currently on the high seas but there is nothing to see as it is dark outside. Time for a walk before I seize up. Might head in the direction of the bar to start with.
Been unusually busy this week, sorting out holiday plans for the year and running round trying to get some planning permission, red tape here comes in all the colours. The former has been much more enjoyable than the latter mind.
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2018/feb/22/television-licence-fee-rises-second-year-running-bbc A bit more stealth tax from 1st April I see. I wonder when folk will realise that it is a simple process to opt out of this...
Shock horror TV watching on the BBC is going up in line with inflation. What a terrible thing. Wonder if Sky etc are keeping to inflationary rises?
Walked around our quiet country lanes this afternoon, enjoying the sunshine and came across the latest episode in the fly-tipping we're plagued with. It's a regular thing...somebody stripping out cheap bathrooms and kitchens and dumping the resultant waste at the side of the lanes or in lay-bys. Today I turned a blind bend to find a pile of rubbish including a toilet and two old sinks actually dumped in the middle of the road. They've tried video cameras at one lay-by but obviously with little effect. This just beggars belief. Why does even a cowboy builder think it's acceptable?
