And he's at it yet again... https://www.kentlive.news/sport/football/football-news/charlton-athletic-four-years-clearing-1218012 Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson is proud of his financial record at Charlton Athletic - with hardly any money spent in his time at the club and a huge cut in the wage bill on his watch. He believes that come the summer, a lot of the folly of the past few years will be gone and the club will 'be in a position to do whatever they want to do.' Utter bulls**t. Does he really believe anybody except Bexleyboy is going to believe such undiluted crap? "Wait until the summer Charlton fans! We'll be in a position to do whatever we want to do!" Yeah, righto Gaffer.
I assume it's true that the wage bill has been cut and he's spent little though. I'll say it again, the deals he was having to structure in the summer were bonkers. Never seen some of the crap KM was coming out with before, and I doubt many will again. Except those that work with Sheffield Wednesday.
I am almost positive that Charlton has a far bigger wage bill than Shrewsbury Town though, and they are currently 16 points ahead of us in the league.
Not necessarily defending that, but I imagine they have a budget that they've manoeuvred around for a while (would need research). Having one chopped brings its separate challenges. You have players players that are promised something which won't be fulfilled and have to deal with that fall out, for example. Amos was due to join on a perm in Jan and that got wiped, that then leaves not only him, but those he might confide in asking questions so you have to be creative and find ways to keep the playing staff motivated. I'm still unsure on KR - that has to be said - but he's not an enemy of the club.
Does Karl Robinson seriously expect 20,000 fans to be inside the Valley tomorrow for the Shrewsbury game, just because it's a fiver to get in? http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/sport/...t-20000-fans-watching-charlton-at-the-valley/ Valley boss Robinson said: “We know one day our objective is to get 20,000 [supporters] consistently at the Valley without cutting the price. I think Shrewsbury are bringing 1,000 fans. “One day we hope this will be the norm and not a one-off." Sorry Karl, but it's a NONE-off, not a one-off. If we are lucky it will take three or four seasons after Duchatelet is gone to get attendances up anywhere near 20,000. KR is once again surpassing himself for gabbling nonsense. What a load of old cobblers.
If the Douch had gone then 20k would be achievable tomorrow but with him still the owner I guess there will be about 14,000 while it will be announced as 16,500
I’m going tomorrow - I like the idea of a multi millionaire clown subsidising (bribing) us to watch our own team.
