Taurine FC Leipzig have been linked with our U18 striker Reo Griffiths. While on the surface this sounds completely random, or like the hacks have decided that if they can't dismantle our first team they'll just have a go at selling off our Academy prospects instead, there is one thing that makes it somewhat plausible: Paul Mitchell signed up as their DoF a couple of weeks ago, so he knows Griffiths while also having a reason to stick it to the club for sacking him due to not being as good at his job as his reputation made out.
It’ll have to be quite a low profile move - and they’ll have to keep an ear close to the ground, ‘cos he seems to spend most of his time there these days!
I guess we can give up on a move for Han Kwang-song, since the North Korean government has said he can join Juventus. I mean we could go in for him if WHL2 has a missile defence system, but I'm not keen to take the risk...
That's not an underground car park we've been building under the pitch....everything's there to start again when it's safe to emerge - Harry Kane's DNA, Joe Lewis's cheque book and safety deposit key and so, so much cheese..........
The underground bit is for nuclear war. The above ground bit is for when the TV broadcasters and Sugga Daddies no long cough up money to PL clubs.
Low-level gossip gossip emerging today that Ryan Sessignon is a done deal and will join Spurs in the summer.
Is that the "underground car park" that is in no way, shape or form, Darth Levy's underground Supervillain base. Complete with a barrack full of ninjas, a giant laser to shoot down footballs that get too close to our goal, a tank full of sharks with lasers on their heads and a great big red button that says 'SELF DESTRUCT' in large helpful letters?
Seems to have emerged from an interview with Leroy Rosenior. He's still working as a pundit, I think, and he did play for Fulham, as did his son. He appeared to be guessing, though. Wouldn't put too much stock in it.
Hence the "low-level" label. Waiting to see if its momentum carries it towards the usual suspects hack plank-ton ...
The biggest obstacle in the way of a Sessegnon deal is a certain full back who wears his hair like Jason Lee and will be harder to shift than a 3 day old post-curry skidmark.
We'll have no problem selling Rose, if that's what Pochettino wants to do. I can't see Sessegnon being used as a fullback in the Premier League, either. Whoever he goes to will probably start him from the bench as an attacking option.
If this story is correct....and I've heard that Toby is waiting to see whether we get CL football next season and look like winning something. Either could be correct or both could be bollocks. Toby could have put this out to pressure the club into raising its offer but will sign for the final best offer. He could have been tapped up by Real Madrid and just be looking to exit with support on his side... However, If we pay Toby £150k pw, you probably have to pay Harry Kane £250k pw and Dele £200k....and Christian.....and........It throws our wage structure out the window as Toby's now on double what Jan's earning and treble that of Davinson Sanchez. Everyone's gonna be visiting MP and asking for a raise. If we have 25 senior pro's and just added a flat £40k to everyone's wages, that's £50m a year. With the stadium to pay for, we don't have £50m spare, so we can only offer so much. It's difficult because this is Toby's last big contract and he knows it. He'll want to earn enough to not have to work again by necessity. I get that. If he has to leave, it'll be very frustrating for the club and fans but we'll get top dollar for him and re-invest it. The club will have seen his departure as a possibility and maybe there's another Davinson Sanchez out there waiting for us?
As the twitter posts imply, lose Llorente or Sissoko and you fill the gap to pay Toby. In terms of points per season, Toby will save us more in goals not conceded than Llorente goals scored so for me it’s a no brainer. On top of that, he could go to a rival club so it’s a double whammy if he leaves.
I've heard from some pretty reliable sources that Toby has predictably had numerous offers from elsewhere, the lowest of which in terms of wages is £170k pw and he expects Spurs to match or exceed that amount. Brian is 100% correct there is no point wheeling out Sissoko and Llorente as examples of 'where we'd get the funds from' as A) we might not be able to shift them, B) we'd need to bring in better replacements - a CM for Sissoko and a proper ST for Llorente. The latter is likely to command higher wages anyway if we want proper cover for Kane, and C) their wages are but a drop in the financial tsunami that will hit us if we meet Toby's demands. Based on the fact that he has contributed minimally this season, you'd have to say that if he gets a raise, Eriksen, Jan, Son, Davies and Kane will all rightly feel that they should be next in line. There's no end to it. I've long accepted the fact that he won't be a Spurs player come September. Ideally I'd like us to sell him abroad. Unlike in Walker's case I can see him slotting in at any number of teams. Asking price? 1 year left on his contract but I'd say £40m minimum.
