That's the only time a Wetherspoons comes in handy, when you're on an away day on an early ko.

Surely there’s never a queue in a Weatherspoons?!

If i'm just out for a quick beer and the choice is between two quid or five quid a pint, then i'd have no qualms about going in a wetherspoons

And for an extra £1.50 you can get a burger, fries, two scoops of ice cream and a happy ending. Or is that just Woking on a match day?

See my example above about football.

Yeah every now and then isn't bad, but don't understand people who want to go in there for a decent period of time. Like you I might pop in and get two bottles of Peroni for a fiver but no more than that.

I know you can get a pint for a quid and it includes most beers with a meal deal

Exactly. It's more cheap convenience rather than as a going out place. Even then in decent places i hate it if the fookers rip me off for a pint of beer. I don't mind so much in London but anywhere else once it touches four quid i think whoooooa...it's not about affording it either, it's just about being ripped off.

I've done a **** load of travel the last 15-20 years and I used to get so ****ing irritated by everyone full stop. I'm not a people person at the best of times.

But my holiday starts before the airport doors these days. I love the occasional chaos at airports, partly because we get there early and book into the lounges, relax, eat, have a glass or 3 of wine and then head down for the scrum of boarding.

My wife hates it when I spot an edgy irritated twat and start making comments about the staff or whatever that he'll hear and is guaranteed to send him off on one.

**** like that has me chuckling over a drink or 2 well into my holiday <laugh>

Yeah London you kind of expect it but can still find some decent prices if you look around. Paid not much less than £8 for a Peroni before Chelsea away last season... then about £3.50 in a different pub less than ten minutes walk away.

For a decent lager you're normally looking £4 or more for a pint down here tbh.

Why is every wetherspoons pub like an episode off takeshi's castle trying to get to the bog?

Our village pub guinness is £4:20.

Has been for a while now. He's a tenant and the breweries keep trying to take the piss and raise the prices. They also want to do away with the guinness and bring in London Stout, but there's a shed load of guinness drinkers in our tiny villlage pub. He has a constant battle with the breweries mate.

Its not always about the landlords! Sometimes they're forced into things they don't want to.

Just to add, I paid £4:80/£4:90 for a guinness in The Flask in Highgate a few months ago!

No need for that sort of price out there!

Suppose it also depends on a number of factors, one being, if it's your local and particularly distance from another boozer than i'd pay it if it meant i could walk to it - also if it's a traditional boozer again i'd accept some of them need our help. I begrudge it more with the chains.

I agree mate. Most of the pubs around our area, North Beds, guinness is £3:90-£4:40ish.

All I was saying was that sometimes the landlords don't always have a choice in their prices.

The breweries seem to be going out of their way to close pubs rather than make them competitive and keep them open.

I guess thats a whole new thread through.

Just been to New York and flew with Norwegian Airlines - second time I have flown to USA with them.
    I would recommend them highly
