London is basically 100,000 rich people and 7.5m daft ****s paying exorbitant rent, bills and taxes so they can talk about how great they are because they live and work in London.

Aye, like the rest of the country is dead jealous that you're paying £800 a week to live in a box-room.

 

I pay £550 a month all in for a massive room.

Apart from all the great pubs/nights out/things to do/things to see/public transport/higher salary/etc...

Some truth in this. Quite a lot of the natives have been priced out, and in many areas it's either millionaires or East Europeans living 5 to a room.

It is, however, considerably less **** than just about everywhere else in the Uk. And @GroveRanger ****ed off to a semi (ooer) in some bleak suburban hell-hole years ago, so that's good also.

I like London but there is no need to stay there any more. It's over priced and it's over populated. You could sell your council house and move to Glasgow and buy a decent sized house and if you really wanted to go to London, you can get a flight for £9.99 from GLA to Stansted.

Glasgow is Miles better as they say. 30mins from Loch Lomond and if you prefer to have your anus filled with cock, 40 mins to Edinburgh.

Yes, I could do all those things, and don't think I haven't thought about it - sell my 2 bedroom flat, buy a little semi (ooer again) in any of a dozen cities round the UK or Europe, and have a pot of money to sit on (til it ran out).

However, I love London, and I'm too old to start again somewhere else. I have met so many people who actively hate the towns they live in, that I consider myself very lucky.

A mate of mine made bundles when he sold his 3 bedroom ex council flat in Hampstead. Bought a house near Oxford, and a villa in Spain from the proceeds. Never seen him so miserable.

Some years later, after splitting up with his missus, he's back living in a one bedroom flat off the Holloway Road. And happy.

 

Each to their own I suppose and as long as you're happy, then that's all that matters.

The Enemy

 

The thing I like about Edinburgh is it's compact and means you can get from A to B easily but there's still plenty to do (more festivals than EDGE has meltdowns).

The worst thing about the likes of Glasgow and especially London is that they're too big, too many people and full of crime. I don't particularly want to live somewhere where gangs throw acid in your face and mug you just for a phone.
