I'm sure Holgate was offered that, and probably advised to take it, several times.

Unless Holgate makes an apology then Firmino has nothing to shake on.

Already the likes of blue radio city producer David Downie are jumping on the FA statement to claim Holgate shouldn't apologise and he was only cleared because the evidence against Firmino wasn't conclusive

In all honesty, Bobby has got off lightly. Once the FA have you in Ouseley's crosshairs they normally pull the trigger and declare you guilty, followed by a ludicrous showtrial. Talking of Ouseley, has that ****ing old, freeloading, feather-bedded fraud expanded yet on his comment that Bobby should confess like Trevor Sinclair because he was caught bang to rights abusing a policeman in front of witnesses?

Utter ****, isn't it? But of course, the result still is that Holgate managed to assault a fellow player recklessly, and simply walk away.

They should meet up on the pitch at Anfield, shake hands, pose for pictures; and then when Holgate turns his back Bobby should push him into the stands and say he thought that he heard him call him the n word.

Agreed. I'd be sick if Bobby did anything of the sort now with him. He had his chance to accept it was a mistake and chose not to take it.

Once he followed the correct procedure with the FA it was out of his control. He went through the correct channels and did nothing silly......like wear t shirts

And Ousley being Ousley never took into consideration that Firmino isn't exactly white Caucasian himself, the old hypocritical twat invited Rio onto his team even though Rio had racially abused a fellow black player and had been found guilty of the same FA charges as Suarez and Terry.<doh>

imo theres no winners in this.

firmino might get abuse at evertons ground which is its own special form of stupid.

holgate has all the media pressure on him locally and will be accused of stuff on an ongoing basis.

tbh firmino might not even care about this afyer a couple months

holgates career might even be badly affected if his form dips as a young player

    tough stuff.

Holgate won’t care. Just as Bobby won’t.

These ‘kids’ are raised in an academy system and are super confident, well supported by their clubs and protected. Out and about it will be 50/50 support and abuse.

Why use the word "directly" in the statement?, when it simply means nobody within earshot(referee included)heard the alleged word being used.

"The FA took statements from 12 players and officials from both teams, referee Bobby Madley and the fourth official.

None of those interviewed directly heard the words alleged to have been said by Firmino."

****ing stinks to leave doubts in readers minds when he was found not to have said it.

Think you're wrong if you think Holgate will get much support from this from anywhere outside Everton and United (for obvious reasons). It's not just knuckle-dragging BNP supporters who are angry with Holgate (and why would such racists support Bobby, as non-Aryan as you can get?). This hasn't gone down well with many fair-minded people.

I certainly hope so! TBF Holgate is not to blame for the disgusting response from the FA but that said and done it comes down to one of those fundamental lessons of life; you reap what you sow!

You don't know that for sure that it was a false accusation though do you?

You're just assuming that due to your bias.

Balance of probabilities says he would, that push(if you saw it)was a danger to the player and to the supporters who he landed amongst, also could have resulted in any number of injuries, but because of the immediate fracas following it and the allegation the referee bottled it.
If he'd have sent Holgate off and then informed the FA of an alleged racist remark towards the "black" player he'd just sent off he would have looked a little bit on the racist side himself.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Not sure myself, seen those sorts of things happy before and only be given a yellow for, cowardly/snidey as it was. You can't categorically state as fact that he would have been sent off though as we simply don't know.
