Haha glad to hear it, nobody wants Percy Syndrome do they. Cheer up mate. I know what you mean in a way the last weeks been disappointing but still early days.
I genuinely wanted people's opinions on the falling crowds and what can be done to get them back up, the goalscoring difficulties and the chances of us being relegated if we can't rectify the problems so far. All I've had is some Doveston wannabe showing himself up and you asking if I've contracted something from Percy.
Jack Lester is a player I've always respected, especially after his goalscoring exploits in League Two with Chesterfield over the past few years. Still got good feet for a 36-year-old too. Any more questions Doveston?
If we can get a couple of wins under our belt especially at home, I am sure the confidence will return to the team and we can move forward. This is a totally new squad and like a new engine in a car it needs to be nurtured and 'run' in. Give the manager and team a few more weeks before we even start thinking about pressing the panic button. UTT
Think we`re still a few players short and at present lacking a commanding keeper and centre half, a midfielder to open up defences, a mobile midfielder to put his foot in where is hurts and a bit of help for Matty F, I personally think that unless we address certainly a few of these areas this season it is going to be frustrating, relegation talk just yet is a bit premature though.
many people have said, that there is 18-20 teams all thinking they have a chance of promotion this season, it is so even..and if thats the case, theres going to be quite a few teams that end up a lot lower down they they 1st thought, im not saying we will be one, but stranger things have happened..not everybody can finish top half, little things will make all the difference.
Bump. Can we actually have some proper opinions now? Thoughts on: 1) The falling crowds; 2) Our goalscoring issues; 3) Our chances of relegation (Watford, Donny, Peterborough, Barnsley and Coventry will make up the bottom six with ourselves IMO); 4) What can be done to address these problems (preferably something apart from "Shoot! Score! Win!" if possible)?
Free balloons, duh. Nah seriously though, it's just down to success, the more you get, the more fans will come. Not a lot more you can do about that. McLean and Fryatt up top, though the ball needs to be threaded through to them on the ground, obviously crosses and long balls won't work. Even though McLean can jump like a bastard. A new midfielder or a motivated Koren is probably needed, either that or the simple instruction of "Keep it on the ground lads". If we stick to the current manager, we'll be bottom half for sure. I can't see us going down though, I don't think we'll lose enough. Easy answer is a new manager. Though there's no doubt that would make things a lot better, I think there's more to it than that, this whole culture of being afraid of success needs to be swept away, that's from fans and players. The players don't need to do anything than avoid relegation because that's all the management expect, and the fans have been taught by Our Dear Leader that our Premiership was a bad one. Granted, we didn't take a lot from it, but we could've at least taken the ambition to get back there. Complacency gets you nowhere, especially when you're not doing that well in the first place.
So it's not a problem that our crowds have fallen back to less than 18,000? Not a problem that the only goals we've scored have come as a result of an own goal and a rare moment of magic from Matty Fryatt? Not a problem that at no point have we looked like scoring a TEAM GOAL? Not a problem that even our set-pieces, our saving grace last season, have now also become appallingly bad? Not a problem that only the teams I mentioned in my last post (and Peterborough shouldn't even really be included) suffer the same problems, and they are teams who were all tipped as relegation favourites in pre-season?
I'll be selecting a different Charles each week as a representative. There' nothing special about Mr Manson. Future candidates include Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens and Charlie Chaplin, amongst others. (And Charles Bronson )
It's a problem if you've no sense of perspective. Add some rational thinking and it's just a situation we're in, similar to dozens of other teams. The issues you mention will ALWAYS be problems, but we're hardly at the end of th eworld considering the cyanide pill position just yet. Some people really need to get a grip of themselves. anyone that thought al of these players would gel straight away know little about football.
Nearest I can get to Charles the Viking. http://www.vikingrange.com/consumer/global/content.jsp?id=cat8860025
