£50m for what will very possibly be a 3rd division team next season and probably losing money hand over fist? If I was interested in buying them I think my counter offer would be somewhere in the region of 50 pence.
Apart from the £60m of debt which has just been moved over to footballs equivalent of a pay day loan lender, which is costing them around £8m a month. The parachute payments they are due will just about service that debt, Short may well decide to do one after that. I head a rumour he's got a house up for sale for around £10m more than he's wanting for the club. I thought we had it bad
This is the thing, football's all so relative it's easy to forget what you have and nothing moves faster than fans' ambition. Sunderland on brink of collapse. Geordies protesting 'cos we won't break a transfer record. Arsenal fans hounding out Arsene because they want to win a trophy and are fed up of simply watching the likes of Aubameyang in European action. Man City fans screaming blue murder because they lost a match to Wigan. Mo' money, mo' problems.
I just think as a club, as an area, as supporters, we have a bit more loyalty and fight about than Sunderland. I always find them very defeatist as a population. People always talk about how there is only a river between us and we are not that different. I don't where they this from to be honest. I do a lot of work there and they are quite a difficult insular bunch. I think that is what Short can't be arsed with anymore. He is a "I'll get mine" kind of guy. They are a "please sir can I have some more sir" type of people. They lack class too. please log in to view this image
Just think it's about pride. Mackems dont have it. Then again, why would they? The only thing they can be proud of is their proximity to the City of Newcastle....
Well to be fair, what does Sunderland have that is actually enticing? It's a ****hole. They have a crap University, a run down city centre, a second rate team and stadium and the place is consistently voted in the top ten worst places to live. Most city guides promote the best restaurants, bars and museums. The one for Sunderland is a smackheads guide for getting the best fix!
Hey come on, it's not that bad - they do have one first we can't boast First to bring cholera to the rest of the UK in 1863
