... Dan Burn keeps a clean sheet against Sergio Agueiro Well done that man, who got a lot of stick from some of our fans, Captaining his side to an extraordinary Cup win. And hats off to Wigan for being at the ready with Oasis at the end of the game.
I never understood the stick Burn got. Admittedly, I don't get to as many games as some of you, but he was always good whenever I saw him. I was sorry to see him go. I'd have him back in a heartbeat - I could see him and Ream working well together. Anyone want to tell me why I'm wrong? Incidentally, Facebook reminded me that today is four years since I took my boys (then 10 and 7) to a signing session at the club shop where they met Clint Dempsey (my eldest's favourite player since he was 5), Tankovic, Dejagah and... Dan Burn. Dan was particularly good with my youngest and seemed like a thoroughly nice bloke. Delighted for him last night.
Football is all about partnerships and Burn really suffered from the partners he had. Burn doesn't have the speed or technique to be the 'cultured' centre back but he certainly has the size and strength to be the 'physical' centre back. Arguably he 'd be better suited to partnering Ream than Kalas is. I think the criticism here would be that both he & Ream are left footed, but that is surmountable.
