Not a huge burger fan as I am pretentious twat when it comes to food (At least I admit it), but five is brilliant for a takeaway place. Grape fanta.... revolutionary.
Oo, ooh, an excuse for an old joke. Went to a fetish restaurant this evening. I got toed in the hole.
You keep browsing and something pops up - Vietnamese food, bloody great... Had a wonderful family experience when dining in a Vietnamese restaurant back in the late 80's, in West Germany. We loved the food and were lucky we had a local place of quality. My girls were early teens, boy was under 10 and cocky. All of us picked dishes but the lad decided to be particular, challenging everything. No change, he was in the mood. The waiter, we had grown to know him, managed his own language, English, German (and God knows what else) and was, as ever, ultra attentive. My son asked me ' If you're so clever, Dad, what does that say (on the place mat). Chinese type characters, not a clue, but... ... I made something up and then, later, the boy asked the waiter, who supported my bullshit impeccably. Good tip and four very happy people and one who thought..
Everyone's creaming over FiveGuys, and they are pretty good, but if they are busy their system just grinds to a halt and it takes ****ing ages to get your order, not good at all. And this has happened to me at at least 3 different places so its definitely their system. So bad I don't bother anymore.
I’ve never been to Five Guys, although I notice there’s one outside Kings Cross I assume that’s a hectic one?
I don’t think that’s a breakdown in their system or even an issue that they care about. Everything is made fresh to order, they make no bones about it that you might wait a long time for food. If you want it quick, go elsewhere.
Not really. Try Covent Garden (particularly a few years ago when it was new) or the O2 when there's a big event on. I like five guys but they don't like me back but they are too expensive. Dope burger is just as good.
Still on the food thing but a bit different. A popular Hull restaurant will reopen next month - and the owner believes it will revolutionise all-you-can-eat dining in the city. Ciao Cicchetti in Boothferry Road closed in January after getting a zero food hygiene rating and managers said they were unhappy at the level of service they were offering. Having been in Vietnam for nearly 5 months now I can say the food is wonderful, I have enjoyed just about every meal I have had here. P.S. As a matter of interest in Vietnam they don't use Chinese characters, here is a sample of menu. please log in to view this image
This sounds like the start of a Peter Kay stand-up routine. “Does anyone remember putting wallpaper on your school books?” Hilarious.
