Weds 21st Feb @ 19:45 BT rip-off Sport I think we can win this, though the only surety is that we will sit back, defend, concede possession and allow ourselves to be generally outplayed in another Mourinho 'classic'. These big European away nights are where his tactics are supposed to be most effective, so if they can't get a result here then what's the point? Our form hasn't been great of late, though Sevilla have been a bit up and down too - they were hammered 5-0 by Madrid earlier in the season but currently sit 5th in La Liga and have reached the Copa del Rey final beating Atletico in both legs along the way. What are your score predictions? Who will be the centre back pairing? Will Pogba return or will the mystery illness strike again?
I've seen quite a bit of Sevilla on TV this season and they are a very tough side to beat, especially at home. Their usual style of play is to go all out at home and to try to score early and then defend in strength - I hope our lads are on their toes for a frenetic start in front of some very vocal home supporters. Not an easy game by any means and the way we've been playing lately, we could easily slip up if the tactics aren't right of if our prima donnas don't apply themselves.
I hate drawing 0-0 away, even though a lot of people would say it's a good result. Because of the silly away goal rule, I think you leave yourself voulnerable by not scoring away.
I've never really agreed with the rule to be honest. I don't think it's a fair way to decide a drawn tie. My judgement is probably a little clouded though, as I've never known us ever benefit from the rule, yet we've gone out a few times to it.
In these CL knock out stages, the most important thing IMO is to score an away goal. Without a goal you are immediately at a disadvantage when you play the return leg. I would think a 1-1 would be the minimum JM would be happy with. I would go for a score draw or a very narrow win. Lukaku and Sanchez to link well fingers crossed.
They introduced it to try and make teams attack more away from home, but all it seems to do is make teams more cagey at home. Sevilla may just park the bus tomorrow and try to make it a one off game at OT where they go through with a win or score draw.
indeed . can end up very badly to us if we are not 100% in it or made mistakes .. we need to counter them faster and more efficiently .. as we keep getting into good positions recently just to make wrong last pass or miss one to ones.. realistically .. this competition is most prestigious one in our hand ... all 5 English clubs this season can win it ..
I honestly think we have no hope of winning this seasons CL, I've watched every game we've played against the top sides this season, and the majority of games we have been completely dominated in. Even the Arsenal game we won away, it was a miracle we won that. Obviously I would love to be proved wrong, but I'm just not that confident in the current side or manager, that we have what it takes compete with the very best over 2 legs. I don't think Chelsea or Liverpool have any hope either to be fair
I'm pretty confident we will win. Mourinho is the master of anti football and with his 'seven rules' of how to ruin a football match we should have enough to shut down Sevilla. At the other end of the pitch Sevilla have conceded 5 goals on four separate occasions this season and have a negative goal difference so I'm unconvinced about their own defence. I'll go for 3-1 United.
That confirms there's more going on behind the scenes than a mystery illness. Anyway, I'm tired of the Mourinho/Pogba circus.
Yeah, me too. **** em, let's get one with some football and less of the tiresome sideshow. I couldn't care a **** if either left to be honest.
I’m no Mourinho fan but no player should be guaranteed a place. The bloke just isn’t playing particularly well.
true .. I forgot how average we were facing strong sides .. I was just looking to our players quality .. but yeahh facing those sides we were really average may be Jose style is old now and he is outdated
