Pret, Leons, ****ing Wagamama. What's wrong with Fish&Chips, Patty and Mushy Peas? Poncy bastards the lot of you. Ooh look there's a new Sushi bar Fish Chips Mushy peas and a Patty ffs .
I quite like Byron's, but as you say, they're in a bit of bother (currently subject to a CVA and looking at closing a third of their sites).
Byron is massively average and I know someone who got serious food poisoning there. Couple of weeks later it got a zero hygiene rating.
Anyone tried this lot? They seem to be trying to be a bit different. https://www.honestburgers.co.uk/
I've been to ones on Beak Street, Upper Street and Westfield and they were all good. And I'm not a massive burger fan.
I went to the one close to Kings Cross a couple of weeks ago. It was OK I ordered the biggest they do but being a Hull lad was disappointed, Nice burger though. Had better. 7.5 out of 10 I reckon.
Serious question - how do you go into Five Guys and only try the fries? I’d say it’s the best takeaway burger chain, but I’ve had a lot better sit-down places. Almost Famous is consistently good and they regularly change up the menu, which can be annoying when they ditch your fave, as they did with me. http://www.almostfamousburgers.com/PDF/AF_Menu.pdf
Not sure if you are aware Southern but there is now a Vietnamese restaurant in Hull, albeit a small one but none the less its there. Used to be called Wokkas, a Chinese place only a couple of doors away from the all you can eat Chinese, Wings. Wokkas was a small place where you could watch the chef's cooking your meal, me and the mrs went a few times, not tried the Vietnamese version yet.
I came across it just after i had eaten a street food market round the corner. I wanted to go in so i just topped up with some. Next time i will give the street food a miss.
Tried Pho last week. Really nice but I came out feeling a bit bloated with liquid but still a bit hungry.
