Just read this article and thought it was a fairly well written and piece and alludes to a lot of the problems we have faced. I know it may not go down well with some of the City fans on here as it is still a fairly positive piece overall. Hopefully with the Bullard saga most of these problems will be over shortly and we can move on from them. I think we are all in agreement with the overall statement of the article that we are a work in progress side rather than the finished article. But i agree our expectations maybe waying down the players and maybe we do need to lower them a little especially seen as clubs like Brighton have being able to spend over 3M on one player.

And P.S the site itself that the article is from seems okay for the odd piece of written work.

I have to agree with many of the points raised, Hull City as a club have a group of youngsters who can turn into top class Championship players if they are given time, however they need to be given that time as a club before then can really achieve any spectacular. It may take a year or two to become a promotion hunting team, but do Hull fans demand success now? Probably, that could be the problem.

But we were a work in progress last season, surely this season should have been about the finishing touches. I think we messed up not getting Ayala, we shouldn't still be faffing about trying to decide on a keeper, we had plenty of time last season to sample the loan market and see what was out there. We should have had a bit more stability going in to this season but i feel as though we're back at square one despite all of the hard work last season. Well obviously not square one, there are obvious improvements, but there are also obvious problems that have been apparent for too long now. Don't get me wrong, i trust Nigel to sort it out, he sorted the defense last season and he'll do it again. But with only one goal in four games, when do we start worrying that things aren't going to change?

I rather thought last season was about steadying the ship than actual consolodation.

We've played some good sides and we've played good football. We've played some very defensive sides and not been able to break them down.

In short, I think the initial question is a leading one and we've not actually started as poorly as some are claiming.

You give him at least 10 games this season surely?

And the fact that 13 clubs i believe have spent more than us in this transfer window, surely all them clubs expect to be above us? Why do we think without spending the same money that we don't have do we deserve to be up there. Last season was making the best of a bad situation. Guzan wanted to remain at Villa as he thought with Friedel going it was his chance. And Mannone was not allowed out again so our testing for keepers couldn't get us anywhere. We bidded for Ayala earlier on but they wanted over a million for him which we couldn't afford as soon as they lowered there their demands we bidded. Can't blame him for going to the Premier League either.

I don't think we've started as poorly as some people are claiming either. And i'm not writing Nigel off, given his progress last season that would be incredibly unfair. But without goals we're not going to win games, and in that department it feels like there hasn't been any improvement on what ultimately cost us the playoffs last season.

I agree that we have come against some good sides so far but we still expect something more than we have. If we find a cutting edge to our team i think thats the key.

There is no doubt Nigel will bring this team through this patch, but yet again i agree in a sense that he has maybe spent on players like Mclean who really haven't turned out the way we expected. But it is always a risk when you sign players from lower leagues, so those who think Le Fondre is a sure thing are wrong.

Article is OK, agree with a lot of the sentiments, but if you're going to write a blog and publish it you really should have some grasp of the english language, the grammar used is appalling.

Why do people keep saying we play good Football, when it's patently obvious that we don't?

As fans we could certainly help by not booing the team off at full time, its hardly gonna fill a youngster with confidence, we can make more noise than we currently do, a 5 minute salvo of "We are Ull, we are ull, we are ull" at the start of the match followed by sporadic chants of "she'll be wearing black and amber when she comes" finishing with a final 10 minute chant of "**** em up, get into them" is quite frankly piss poor support. We should be raising the roof at the KC and making opposition teams **** themselves. We raise the roof and the players will react and raise their games.

Do you guys agree that you need one more quality striker?

From what I've seen so far I think people are being a bit harsh in their criticism of Hull an their start hasn't been that bad with losses against the likes of Blackpool and Crystal Palace who have been playing well. However I feel the likes of Fryatt aren't consistent and clinical enough for you guys and you need someone who brings a garuntee of goals.

Tactics were wrong, Pearson remedied that by bringing in another striker to the team, we do need a two or three players still i think to challenge at the top

I agree. Given that we're mid-table suggests that half the division are also having a less than sparkling start. I think it's too soon for panic stations and certainly don't want to see the back of NP just yet. The lack of goals is the obvious worry, though, and a bit of a surprise because the pre-season results suggested the opposite to me.
