What stands out for me is the non-involvement of the Chairman - it's Pearlman who is in the photo with Rob Stewart, and it's Kaplan, Levein & Pearlman who are quoted in the Press Release.
They will be the ones accepting liability. My questions are 1) Will the trust be expected to find a share of rent if it is not generated from within the club? 2) Will we have to continue paying the full amount even if we drop to League 2 (or beyond)? 3) Is there any point increasing capacity if it is only going to be filled against 'big teams' and or local derbies?
Bob - the liability is being picked up, effectively, by the Club. The Club now owns SSMC 100% (rather than 33.333%). As such, the Trust will not be liable - not unless a Rights Issue is made to raise funds - even then, there would be no compulsion to take up the shares on offer. I did hear that the annual rent payable to the Council would fall if the Swans drop out of the PL. I do question whether or not the Yanks will finance and fund any expansion - but they could include the potential opportunity in any forthcoming Sales Prospectus.
All the Americans need to do is come clean and inform the fans of the road they are going down, It is not knowing that is making the fans angry, I know they dont have to because it is their club but if they want the fans on their side then they must stop doing things the American way and give the supporters some facts to ponder over instead of letting them surmise everything.....
7 years in the PL and no expansion, says it all about those that run our club, nuggets the lot of them...............
Expansion will go ahead it has too. The club must not put this set back to hinder the plans of increasing the attendance as we have to be ready for when we return to the premiership which we will in the near future could be even next season.......It is all about getting our system right now and not blaming every man and saunder as that is not achieving anything now we are here.....The club must break the bank to entice Martinez back after he has been to the WC and until then put Curtis as the man to start putting the Swansea way into production that he knows well.....
