Some guy on the HDM website is beating the drum for Gavin Hoolahan saying he should be given a run out in the first team and has all the skills needed to give the midfield a lift?? Thoughts anyone?
I think he should be given at least a couple of games this season, to see how he does, but if he's not even making the bench then I'm sure there's a very good reason for it. In NP I trust.
Why not give Holohan and Emerton a chance? I'm sure they'd be a damn sight more positive in their approach than the twats we have playing now.
its holohan and as a regular reserve team attendee for a few seasons and a big fan, i d say he isnt too far off but he still gives the ball away too much for my liking. he is a lesser tom cairney but he isnt ready for first team football yet. i hope soon
Holohan looks promising, but he's not ready for the first team yet, I'm surprised Emerton hasn't had more of a look in yet though.
To be honest I don't know enough about his ability to comment, but this does bring into focus, to me at least, how stupid the change in subs rules have been in the Championship, with managers now down to 5 subs on the bench rather than 7 it makes it even less likely that young players are going to get a chance. Ridiulous rule.
Holohan and Emerton are 2 more young ones. If the 7 subs rule were still in i would be banging a drum for them to be on the bench. But they will get there chance. You dont throw kids in when the the team is struggling.
I'm pretty sure these players who are still young, but aren't youth team any more, do train with the first team. There was a point under a previous manager (can't remember which) who had these players training in a seperate 'development squad' but it didn't go down well.
