If everywhere else has 4 why can't Hull have even one? I don't really understand your resistance to this BCC.
You just think that because you live in Leeds, where there’s four of them, in reality, they’re not in a lot of cities, mainly just the big cities. Despite having 500 stores across eight countries, two-thirds of their income actually comes from their London stores.
I’ve never even been in one in Leeds nor did I know there’s 4 of them. They’re just one of the most famous sandwich shops and I see them everywhere I go. I’m in Edinburgh today and I just walked past 2 in 20 minutes without looking for them. The fact that you’ve just said there’s 500 stores worldwide reinforces my point.
I know posting here won’t make it happen, but if we’re having a Pret, can we have a Leon next please? It’s my quick tea of choice when waiting at Kings Cross for the Hull train.
I was just pointing out that ‘you can’t throw a stick in any city centre without hitting one’ was bollocks, loads of city centres don’t have one, including Sheffield, one of the biggest cities in England.
And I’m just pointing out - which was the entire point of my first post - that Pret coming really isn’t something to get excited about. Has Meadowhall got one?
Yes, but obviously Meadowhall isn’t in Sheffield city centre. I don’t rate Pret personally, but some obviously do and as others have said, it’s encouraging that we’re getting one ahead of other cities.
Excuse my ignorance on this one but what does Pret A Manger mean (for ages I thought it was pret a manager but never mind).
Thanks DBT, in the recently unlikely event that I know my train hasn’t been cancelled, is on time and I have a bit longer I’ll give it a try!
Thanks, is that one of the ones upstairs? Aside from the half decent food, what I like about Leon (though it would be less relevant in town) is that they give you it in a bag that you can sprint along the platform with when you find your train with a reserved seat on it has been cancelled and there’s a Leeds one about to leave from somewhere else.
It certainly damaged the city centre, but it’s a major city, so most of the big chains are still there, everything from All Bar One and Ask, through to Yo Sushi and Wagamama. It’s a ****-hole though, an even worse layout than Hull.
