Wasn't it during that shooting in Vegas where the band playing saying they had guns in their trailers, but when the shooting broke out they didn't want to get them as they thought they would be confused by the feds as the actual gunman? So basically you need to be ready with your gun for when the attacker is just about to shoot so you can pop him before he shoots anyone.
Yeah good point. Basically everyone needs to be walking around with fully loaded AR's with the safety off.... just in case.
In all seriousness though the reason they won't change the law I think is because in the short term it would be ****ed. There are so many guns in America that if they just banned them tomorrow there would be some amnesty for a period of time for people to hand them in, but only the good guys would. All the proper criminals would just keep them and most likely not go round shooting up schools but still have far more gun crime than here. It would be better for future generations though but no government gives a **** about that and just wants to get re-elected and in the short term nothing would change and they would lose the vote from all the NRA ****s
No it is not that simple, they don't actually spend that much more than lots of other industries I think. It is more that they spend a fair bit, but also have been around for a long time and have good connections in politics. Anti gun groups are far more recent and don't have those connections yet.
The NRA has lobbied heavily against all forms of gun control and argued aggressively that more guns make the country safer Likewise, it strongly supports legislation that expand gun rights such as "open-carry" laws, which allow gun owners to carry their weapons, unconcealed, in most public places. yeah they're pretty ****ed up.
Members yes, money no. They pick their battles wisely and a lot of their members are pro active red necks who will actively promote the cause. They will get their members to back a pro gun politician in the 50/50 states to get them over the line and into the parliament (or whatever it is called over there). They don't spend much money, this was for the last election: please log in to view this image
.....and good old fashioned bribery.. They funded Trumps campaign to the tune of $21m and he’s not surprisingly now in their pocket and there’s been plenty more like him through the years and currently within the halls of power in Washington.
