Strongest team mentally as well! Someone in the X1 has to take the mantle of a leader on the pitch, those around him must have a ‘can do better’ approach to the entire game, which means even if they miss a tackle, or a pass intended for them etc, they must not dwell on that moment but be fully focused on getting better the next time something similar occurs and be more determined to making a better fist of it whatever the move is! We cannot have any more of whatever was going on in the second half on Sunday. Option 2 put the u23 or youth team out!

 

Pellegrino said he won't change too much but sounded like there may be some changes in attack. Shane Long may not be available.

As Sims isn't playing for the U23's maybe he will get a chance.

 

I had no intention of going to this game, but for reasons I cannot now remember, we ended up in Warwick. One of my wife's old school mates was going with a couple of his mates. One supported Albion, one Coventry and another the Villa. Went in the Albion end (days when you just paid your money and in you went). Bobby Stokes' goal had me squealing like a lunatic, and the others had to sit on me before we got killed. On the way home we heard the draw. "Albion are away to Norwich next round " announced the Albion fan. As we all know it ended up being Bradford v Saints. That was one mad cup run. Played only two top flight teams - one in the third round, and then the final. I will be there Saturday, with a ticket and with Saints fans this time. Feels wrong, I should be repeating the '76 experience, so put any loss down to me

I think that most outsiders see this as hard to call....they can't see it being a big win for either side, so they have given advantage to the home side.

 

All this "strongest side" talk gets me. The side Albion turned out at Anfield seemed pretty good, and now they've lost Sturridge they can get back to full strength! I would have thought the boost of just winning a game would be motivation enough for both teams.

 

I think I do in all honesty. Neither team are setting the world on fire this year and both will see the cup as a glorious opportunity to redeem something from an otherwise dour season (a bit like we did last season). I think Saints play with a little less tension away from home ATM and with a big and loyal following, this could be one we can sneak through. Haven't yet seen Carillo getting on the end of JWP / Tadic crosses so here's hoping for that to click this weekend.
