That's what Celtic and Rangers can hope to earn if they reach the group stages of the Europa League. Not to be sniffed at but a pathetically small amount compared to the Champion's League. I heard the commentator say during the Udinese v Arsenal game that Arsenal earned £24m for reaching the last 16 of the CL last season. Liverpool, on reaching the same stage in the Europa League, earned £5m. It just shows how vital winning the SPL is this season with the winners getting automatic entry to the CL for the last time in probably a good number of years.
The problem's further compounded by the fact that the SPL gives its teams £2 million/year TV money while EPL teams get £40 million. It's no wonder we struggle to compete.
If I hear about the ****ing money in the epl one more time I'm going to burst someone. I want to be in the uefa cup cos it nice to see us play different teams and will help our younger player develop the money is a side issue stop giving it significance...or I'll batter you!
I'm with thomas, you want to be in Europe to be playing against other teams. The money doesn't matter the tiniest bit to me, it's the feeling you get during the day in the build up to a European game. The last time I actually had that feeling was in the early 2000's. I remember sitting in English getting excited at the thought of playing Stuttgart It was the time we beat them at Ibrox with Nerlinger getting the winner.
Rangers and celtc would be foolish to base their budgets with European earnings. If the Europa wasn't on a Thursday then I'd be excited about it. Although I'd much rather we were in the main competition we've got to accept that the Europa is our level if we want to be competing in matches. Maybe over time we can close the gap but not under the clamp of the SPL.
Eh naw Ideally we'd fluke the Champions League trophy Its happened before; Porto Liverpool Steaua Bucharest Red Star Aston Villa celtc
