Obviously appealing against it... http://www.planetf1.com/news/briatore-given-18-month-jail-sentence-for-tax-fraud/
The tax appeals process in Italy is so long that I will probably be dead long before this reaches a conclusion Actually....maybe I shouldn't have said that
I can't understand why is willing to risk serving time in jail at his age rather than pay the tax. His net worth is over £200m. The tax he dodged is roughly €4m which is less than 2% of that net worth. It's like someone earning the average UK salary of around £30,000 trying to avoid paying six hundred pounds.
He’s a crook, he can’t help it. Plus not paying tax is not seen in the same light as over here in Italy, there is some pride in cheating the system. And as has noted, he can appeal virtually endlessly, and then strike a deal at the end, very little chance of him serving time. Unfortunately, he’s a horrible individual.
Agree, not a pleasant individual. Perhaps though he might actually be innocent! I guess it must be difficult to prove you didn't fork out 10's of millions on a yacht.
If he has been sentenced then I choose to be on the sides of the law. He looks like a villain to me And so the world moves on
