The thing about sectarian and anti-immigrant language is it remains pretty constant throughout history. Only the target of this bile changes.

Turn of the 20th century we were told we had to stop Irish Catholics coming to these shores as they would take over and decimate the indigenous (ie. Protestant) population. The Church of Scotland even released a paper saying as much (for which it recently apologised). Throughout the 20th C. the target changed: black Caribbeans, Irish (again), Ugandan Asians, East Europeans, Muslims etc.

Guess what? Britain not only survived but became a better country because of these immigrants.

Who knows , but banning guns won't stop the majority of gun deaths as has been proven in Chicago where they have some of the strictest gun laws but the worst crime stats .
