What were you like in the 90's?

And from 2005-9?

 

I remember being emotionally up and down during those periods....perhaps even more dramatically down than now. Relegation was bad and totally preventable as we had a decent side (I blame Redknapp totally for being a hang dog miserable git because he didn't want to be here), but I did enjoy many games in the 2005-9 period. And of course we enjoyed our revival under the new regime. However I have noticed that as you get older you can't withstand misery as much.....I think because you have fewer years left and don't want to waste them.

Sadly you can't really avoid Saints suffering....once you are on the hook.

 

Interesting. I find as I get older, nothing's such a big deal anymore, especially things I am powerless over.

It's all a joke really, and then you die, so why worry? Every day is a bonus.

I was probably too young to fully appreciate the 90s so won't comment on them. But 2005-09 was different as we had made our bed and just had to deal with it, we had no money and **** players so support was all we could do. This time it feels far more like we are being ****ed over by the people at the top. We have a decent squad and should have a **** ton of money (based on our spend compared to competitors in the league) but both aren't being used to their full potential.

Sure there is nothing we can do from now until May but support and hope that will be enough, but come the summer serious questions need to be asked of the management. It is hard to look at it so objectively when Saints is a major part of your life so it is understandable people let their anger take over from time to time and boo/vent/meltdown.

 

My dislike of anxiety is exaggerated by chest pain associated with any tachycardia (I know....get the violins out ), but otherwise I think we are singing from the same hymn sheet but with different lyrics. We've been there before (whether you are talking football, politics or world affairs), so that lessens the sense of shock, but I more actively turn away from it...knowing it is upsetting. However, I guess I am less upset by the idea of relegation anyway compared with the poor sods who have got dragged into supporting Saints by our recent success....but am also refusing to be upset. Especially as it may not happen.

I've stopped posting about Saints recently because I find that i'm just repeating myself.
I still don't think that the present manager is the man to take us forward personally (but at least he is picking the team that I prefer atm) and I'm still annoyed at the Board for various reasons, but we are where we are, so we just get on with it and my support at games is unwavering.
I'm just hoping that we can go a long way in this competition and stay up somehow and hopefully the Summer will find us on a more even keel and next season moving forward once more. COYR!
