I note that in The Squire’s heat Black Dave has run 3 times in class 6 races at Lingfield Park, when ridden by a non-apprentice or amateur pilot, and won all 3! Given this stat am somewhat shocked to see Black Dave, with Fran Berry up, available, currently at 16/1! Changing subject anyone like anything following the release of the Grand National weights yesterday???

He is the obvious one Pilgrim but I was looking for a bit more than the two even money shots today. I plumped for ZAKHAROVA at Musselburgh and MILANSTORM at Towcester, both each way! I very much doubt I will see either as I will be in the parade ring for one and the winners enclosure for the other!

Good luck all concerned with Squire at Lingfield. I have to say that I think he will be up against it giving weight to two improving five year old mares that won last time out, but I have been wrong before... This comes with a rather obvious wealth warning, from a friend of a friend: Wolverhampton 6:45 Silvanus Apparently, despite being as old as the Welsh National winner, they think this is an each-way chance; however, since I cannot see it winning (you need to look a long way back in its record to find its last win on the sand), I am more inclined to go Place Only on the Nanny Goat and save the win stake.
