Not seen him get much mention on here but I thought Lamela put in a great shift at both ends of the pitch, nothing spectacular but always there and involved.
Cheeky old fart. I'm vacillating between euphoria over Dembele rolling back the years and abject confusion as to how Aurier is our most experienced Champions League player.
He did and you can see with hindsight why Poch selected him. Tired towards the end but his work rate is astonishing. Two words a certain young Mr Alli would do well to remember. I'd like to see us try a combo of Son-Eriksen-Lamela at some point this season.
He's a grafter and essential to Poch's pressing game when on form, a lot of oppo fans don't see that. He was running the dynamics of our team in the season when we lost it to Lesta up till his injury.
I DID! But yeah, when he's fully fit that's how he always plays. When we paid the £30m for him, it was hoped that he'd kind of replace Bale, that never happened and for a while he looked lost but then when Poch took over, he made Coco build a bit of muscle and turned this frigid/ fragile/ poncy Argentinian into a proper battling work horse from attacking midfield. His work rate rubbed off on the team, too, so many would start chasing players down because they'd see Lamela run from the opponents' box all the way back to ours to help his full back. We sorely missed him when he was out, doesn't get as many goals or assists as we'd like but he's so key to our pressing game and his link up play is only bettered by Eriksen in our squad.
I have mentioned a few times on here that imho you would have won the league had he remained fit that season.
I hope Dier is nowhere near the squad for the cup game, so that gives him a week and a half off. You're right he probably needs it. With Toby and Victor out for so long, he's been manful this season, but looks to have hit a wall now.
Can't see the right angle from the replay. Did Kane play Higuain on? I thought he did when I first saw it.
You could tell that he was offside, because they refused to show it for the whole first half! please log in to view this image
If you mean the first goal, Higuain was definitely off, by a good yard. Edit: although a picture would be a good idea
Is his left foot further back than Kanes head because only scoring parts of the body count as offside
Davies gave away a poor penalty but i thought he was excellent after that. About ten minutes after the pen he did an audacious bit of skill down the left , it showed how it hadent effected his confidence.
I dont know if any of you guys read DML (Dear Mr Levy), they have some brilliantly written articles. After the his NLD performance, Dembele was described as 'Godzilla with finesse'. Never a truer statement.
Some interesting stats for the stattos amongst us Tottenham are the first team to overturn a two-goal deficit at the Allianz Stadium since Juventus moved there in 2011. Juve are unbeaten in their past six Champions League home games against English sides. The Italian club failed to win a Champions League home game after being two or more goals ahead for only the second time. Before Harry Kane's goal, Gianluigi Buffon had not conceded a goal for 694 consecutive minutes for Juventus and Italy (last conceding against Sweden in November). Kane has equalled the record for the most goals scored by an English player in a single Champions League season (seven), level with Steven Gerrard in 2008-09. The England international has scored nine goals in nine Champions League appearances - the most of any player after nine games. Dele Alli has provided 19 assists for Kane for club and country.
