Based on what I've seen from JB this season, I'd have him in the side any day of the week. A little rough around the edges but if he helps keep us up, who gives a fk.

Fair points Lone but if we don't manage to break our 15 year old record transfer in this window then we will all know that either a) something is very wrong indeed with NWs spending mentality or b) Bernie is still actually in control behind the scenes. I could be wrong but I swear I saw Neil in the pound shop before the Everton game saying something like "What do you mean you don't sell left backs?".

people will be scared to run at us now. They know Joeys about, great signing. Yeah he has a temper, but tempers mean passion!

hm... i hope

either way, we need experience and his skill to lead the midfield and teach our newbies a thing or two.

Like i heard about lee bowyer, he eventually settled and became great for 4 season ( thank you to who mentioned that). I think Barton will be the same

Let's face it, Faurlin needs nurturing and Derry, as fantastic as he is, is never going to be able to pass on anything other than passion. Faurlin was great on Saturday but he can still be very hit and miss. Barton can teach him a lot more, hopefully that wont be how to glass someone in a pub.

But it's exciting times and QPAAAAGH, don't worry I'm sure that old transfer record will be smashed several times before the deadline.

I was spouting off at work about how much I dislike the thought of Barton joining QPR and a colleague said the minute he scores a winning goal we'd all forget about the hype and cheer him. Not me, not now, not ever. If he scores I won't clap or cheer, if he celebrates in front of the Loft I will turn my back.

I don't join in with the "Warnock give us a wave" or "There's only one Neil Warnock" for the same reason. Just because they are at the club doesn't mean I have to like it.

Bitter and twisted? Yes, I suppose I am. Hypocrite? Not I.

The longer it takes to be confirmed the more sceptical I am that it's just a ploy by Barton to get an offer from Newcastle. Good player but I really didn't appreciate his tweets about ''don't want to leave Newcastle'' whilst he's having a medical at QPR... pretty disrespectful, not to mention stupid.

If he's passed the medical and he's a free transfer, what's the hold up?

I'd say so. Parkers 2 years older and would cost £6m+

I actually think Bartons a better player too, and I've seen both playing for Newcastle so.... <ok>

I think he still has a year to run on his contract but newcastle are letting him go for free? He's not a free agent. Guessing there still some paperwork to sort out between the two clubs.

Just seen Barton on SSN at the training ground and tbh (don't shoot me down) didn't really seem that excited and said he is "completing final stages of the medicals" but "I have not made a final decision yet". And then when asked are you hopeful or optimistic he said "I’m not sure, there are still a number of things to be sorted out".
You can see from his face that he is gutted to be leaving Newcastle but fortunately for us they don't want him.
If i were QPR i would smash all mobile phones and get him to sign. Think he is very mixed up.

Dave - It could all be a bit of PR to let the Geordies down gently but he's not the type and wears his heart on his sleeve. Until he signs and its on the offish I am very doubtful on this one.
