    probably so.

I mean at the very least come june we should know that klopp actually needs a keeper or not. If Mingolet is a goner and he's talked his way into being one then he will need one... the question is will he buy a reserve or a first team one.

Depends on how well Karius does. If he's solid then I suppose we'll make do with a back-up. If he makes too many mistakes then we'll have to try to improve on him if we want to progress next season.
Mig isn't consistent enough for us, or dominant enough in his box - but he isn't ****e, so he'd be better off getting games at a middling club rather than being our back-up.

really its up to both of them isn't it

Karius to prove he can do it or not

Mingolet to decide if the wages he is on from that plump 5 year deal (now 4 years) can be bettered elsewhere or if he cares more about playing.

Joe hart wanted the wages, his career is now in the toilet. If he wanted to play he'd be putting the work in and have moved form city 2 years ago.

I think he may well do. He's already made noises about being unhappy with rotation so I think he wants to play.

    Hope so.

If he's money motivated we will soon find out.

Mingolet is reportedly on 60k per week until 2021

Its hardly bank break is it? the average prem was must be 50k now.

Ok it rules out 6/7 clubs in lower half but he might find a club willing to pay it but only in england.

IMO he will go on loan some place and not get sold.

TBF we still need a sub keeper for the rest of the season, might as well hold on to him for now

Clyne has travelled to Porto full squad as follows: Karius, Mignolet, Ward, Grabara, Clyne, Van Dijk, Lovren, Gomez, Klavan, Moreno, Robertson, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson, Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Can, Woodburn, Firmino, Salah, Mane, Ings, Solanke.

Then off to warm weather training afterwards so if we lose to Hammers it will be because they were getting pissed up in Marbella.

    Agreed
said some time ago that since he clearly wants Karius to be number 1 so just do it.
Will help also build a relationship with the rest of the defence - well would if the back 4 didn't change most weeks as well.<laugh>

Yeah. Should decide who he likes best and stick to it, imo.

it is why we are playing the guy a massive wage. To make these calls.

I think we all back him even though the lad is dodgy as ****. If he gives klopp the faster play he wants and only costs 10 points a season he is no worse than mingolet.

Its just not our ideal as fans who want a rock solid last line of defense.

IMO from here on in though klopp won't be changing much. He did this last year. There comes a time when its business time and i just feel as though matip and vvd will play all games (if vvd can play 2 a week)

    Karius
    Gomez Matip VVD Robertson

IMO thats klopps plan from now til may.

Poor VVD having to put up with it but the 180k a week will do him.

Mig will be gone in summer. He said he doesn’t want to rotate. Just depends who we get in and if Karius starts as number 1 or if we spend big for a new number 1

I think Mignolet isn't being used for Champions league as Karius was because of his attitude. Clearly not reacted well to being dropped

it's a second dropping for him so he reacted differently first time and fought hard. he may feel klopp just shafted him I don't know.

but it's obvious a parting of the ways should happen.

There was no faith given was there, think Klopp had to get Karius out of the lime light last season as he was getting torn apart by every mouth out there (and maybe rightly so).

Ming stepped it up but Klopp was always going to drop him as soon as possible
