I like bitter/sweet part of life stuff. These posts are brilliant. Where has my life gone. Where gave all my mates gone? We'd live and die for each other, now I've not see some of them for twenty years. It was the best of times...
surly theres a peom in that last few lines just waiting to be written.would love to have a crack at peotry but cannot do serious stuff.also my grammer and spelling is bad!!
Piano Guitar Water Colour Painting All of which have taken a back seat, since moving back to the East Yorks', in November last year and renovating our bungalow, hope to be living there in March, meanwhile living with friends in Hull.
I will tell you something you may not believe, I am borderline illiterate, I can read and write but have such a limited vocabulary it's so annoying sometimes. Spellcheck and predictive text are the tools I have waited all my life for, without them my writing would be alien speak. I have a literature professor that proof reads my writing and helps with a word here a word there. From the very first day at school all I ever wanted was the last. I hated school, these days I would of been helped but back in the sixties children like me were just pushed along. I have a story I cannot tell while my mother is alive but will write it one day. My only advice to anyone that wants to write poetry is to just write what you feel, I sometimes ride around hull on the buses and people watch, look out of the window and get ideas, I wrote one about the last orchard park high rise that was about to be blown down, I called it " the last orchard park giant ", it was about the memories within this building as the demolition team were about to bring it down. I will be totally honest with you if it wasn't for the birth of my second grandson and writing poetry and stories I probably wouldn't be here. Love, sound and words gave me and extra 20 years... or maybe I'm just talking crap.. ha ha
Are you me??? I spend hours everyday reading legal documents and writing reports. One of the reasons I post on here is to improve my writing skills. The most important button on my keyboard is the backspace.
My day job is engineering and master scheduling so very precise and methodical. I try to counter balance this with very abstract leisure interests. This draws me towards modernism, abstract expressionism and what I call outsider art in art, music and literature. I personally found city of culture encouraged my maverick way of thinking. I’ve always read a lot, books and lyrics. As well as always having a novel on the go I’m currently enjoying revisiting The Fall’s extensive back catalogue and the weird and wonderful abstract lyrics of Mark E Smith after his sad demise. I also do plenty of family stuff, travel and slagging off rugby league.
Reading is all I really have time to do at the moment, love a good book. Since setting up my business last year, spare time becomes a luxury!
No GLP, I use to write by the sound of a word,if that makes sense, I have difficulty pronouncing words but in my head I can read them,
A few years ago I took a test on a computer, I got 98%, but then they ask me to do a written one and got below 30%. In the computer test they give you 4 possible words, I can see the right one but when asked orally I cannot spell it unless it's 4-5 letters long. They say I have an A level mind but a E- vocabulary... I got a certificate when I passed the computer one, i showed it to my wife and she fell about the place laughing, it's a family joke how bad my vocabulary and spelling is...oh and even to this day my mrs thinks I copy someone's poetry as she cannot believe the words I use... the internet can be a wonderful tool sometimes..
When I had a breakdown, I used three coping mechanisms. Drawing Painting Writing On the way to Wembley with my mates for the FA Cup semi final, we sat on the train opposite a nice couple who explained that they were on there way to a gallery where the woman's water colours were on display. My mate paid me the biggest of compliments, when he said about me "He's a great artist, I don't always get what it is, but he should exhibit his stuff". My writing is now confined to articles for Tigermag. I am genuinely surprised when someone says that they enjoyed reading them.
Can you buy the city programmes from this seasons games at club shop? I've never bothered with programmes but I've decided I'm going to start collecting them and I would like to start from the Brentford game as it was the first game since my daughter born , as usual I have my ideas too late
No wonder, stood in the snow with only your football kit on. I've told you before about avatars should not be your own photo!
I'm sure if you contact the club they'll be able to sort you out, might even do you a deal on a load of them.
