    Yeah, that’s the metropolitan borough. As you yourself stated. Did you not bother looking at the town’s population?

    Wigan itself has a population of 81,203 (Office for National Statistics at the time of 2011 census).

    What does Hull's urban area consist of? That has a population of 570,000. Wigan metropolitan area includes places 8 miles away, which is like including Beverley in Hull's population. Some places in Wigan's metropolitan area are as near Manchester as Wigan.our support, and the 2 rugby clubs, isn't good for a population that size.
    Naturally when discussing with fans of TWS how poorly supported they are and stating that it is poor for a city 3 times our size the 260,000 figure not the 570,000 is the one I use to compare with.<laugh>

    So you google Wigan's metropolitan area to try and score a point and show that someone is wrong. But you don't give a flying ****.
    Of course others do this as well. Say the support elsewhere is better than ours and they quote the metropolitan area and compare it to the population within our city boundaries.
