    Hi guys.

Yesterday Kenny named a surprisingly strong attacking team against Exeter. It was great to see Liverpool paying Exeter true respect.

But I think there may have been extra meaning to this.

Kenny changed the entire defence, and made a couple of changes further forward, but generally kept it the same with Adam, Henderson and Suarez all starting, with Carroll the first called upon sub.

Could this be Kenny trying to gel these players together, getting them to learn each others game and getting them used to each other more?

I know that the biggest reason is that this competition is being taken very seriously this season, but I think Kenny had more than just winning on his mind here.

It was the perfect chance for some of the new guys to get some game time together. In hind sight it was an excellent decision for Kenny to play the side he did.

The only thing i would of done different is given Doni a run out in goal. After all he is new and would of been nice for him to feel involved with the squad.

With you on that Sky I wasn't surprised with the squad but felt that Doni should have played.

I think you may have nailed it on the head.
This is just my theory. Kenny knows that Stewart Downing is a seasoned professional and will settle in anywhere and out of the new signings didn't have to adjust, so he didn't play. He settled quicker than the others, Andy Carroll is a different sort of character, he's been at Liverpool since January and I'm unsure if he's fully settled. So in my opinion thats why Kenny played Henderson and Adam, its to help them to settle and develop a better understanding with the players that were already there. The more they play together, the more familiar they get.

To me Carroll didnt quite look fit enough. He started 20 minutes later than everyone else, but after his goal he looked a bit out of breath and had sweat pouring of him.

Carroll has serious talent, strength and presence, but maybe some time in the gym, or a possible diet adjustment could help.

I dont think Doni would have done much running. ;)

I used Shockwaves when I was younger but it was ****e. It held your hair up fine but as it dried out it formed a horrid sticky white powder that would fall out of your hair like looking like dandruff.

When I was 9-10( I can't remember which exactly) I heard loads of people talk about gel, I hadn't a clue really what it was, but tried to be clever and put tooth-paste gel in my hair. I took an allergic reaction to something, got sick and the doctor had to be brought in and I stank the room out of it with tooth-paste in my hair.

You can use glue to gel stuff together, failing that just sort of spit in your hand and press it together it might do the trick.

We'll never know what Kenny's exact strategy was, but the way we went about the game suggests that we were, like you say, trying to get a bit of team cohesion. Going out to try to thump them by 5 or 6 goals, while looking a impressive result, wouldn't really have achieved this. It seemed like we were working on trying to keep the ball more than anything (aside from those long balls to Carroll, which we need to moderate) and everyone was getting a touch of it whenever possible, rather than constantly trying to shift it forward and get a goal. It became a bit of a training exercise when we got 3 up, which sort of threw us off when they got one back. But all in all, it was a decent run out for some of the first team and a positive result. It's never as easy playing a lower league team on their home ground as it might look on paper.

Or that mousse-y type one that worked fine until it rained, then you'd have a slightly viscous white liquid dripping from your hair that looked an awful lot like...

Off topic, but what do you think about the news that Sir Alex has lifted his BBC ban? I think it's a magnificent gesture, worthy of a Knight of the Realm. What do you think Elpistolero?

Everybody at the club has been saying he's fitter than ever.

I'm not even sure he would've been on last night if Meireles hadn't been injured. He was a bit grumpy having to run for poor service and not effective when getting the ball on the floor in the middle when he was surrounded by 3 defenders. He still managed to score from the floor in that situation, though.

There was one point where the commentator said, "If Andy Carroll isn't on the pitch John Flanagan doesn't play that ball." Well, he wouldn't play a long ball for Suarez to get his head on, would he? Flanagan didn't play every ball long for Carroll but it's a commentator so really he did.

didnt see your game was watching ours and the arsenal game, i think kenny put such a strong side out cos your not in europe and he is determined to win something this season even if its the league cup, a cup is a cup and will justify his spending spree in the summer. wonder if we draw u in the next reound that would be something

What do I think of Alex Ferguson lifting his ban on the BBC?
Its about time, he should have done it sooner, 7 years is a bit long to hold a grudge.
Only Everton fans hold grudges longer, they are still mentioning 1985 and that referee from the 1970s. You know the one that didn't give them the decision against us. What is his name again, was it Clive Walker?

He was only protecting his son. It's what any father would do. It's the BBC who are the tools in this. Sir Alex was right. All that drinking stull is nonsense as well. Everton don't matter.
