They can put five past most teams because a lot of them are some of the best players in the league in their position. So if they come up against inferior opposition like Everton, the fact they are better footballers means they'll dick them by default regardless of (lack of) tactics, (lack of) training and (lack of) leadership. Put them up against a team of players like spurs have who they aren't better than and then that's where a manager earns his crust by instilling a game plan etc. We never have that. It's football manager quick play mode. Leave training and team talks to default mode and ignore them. Choose a first XI, click 'play' and watch from the sidelines.
I think I'm clearer on what you meant over on our board (replied to you there). There is almost zero evidence for the bit in bold. Apart from Ozil, Bellerin & Cech I struggle to think of another of your players who would get into a team above you. And in Cech's case it's only because Karius and Mignolet are so crap. I honestly don't know where this assumption came from. It's almost as if you can't process how a player can cost £30-40m earn top wages and still be ****. We successfully proved this assumption wrong when we signed Sissoko .
There are 20 teams in the league and our players are some of the best of those 20. Ie not the best but some top 10, some top 5, some top 1 or 2 maybe. Hence why we can batter **** like Everton and yet get battered by four or five teams with better players than ours. And of course I can comprehend expensive phasers being ****. Xhaka for example is probably the biggest pile of a **** of a centre midfielder that I've seen play for arsenal for years.
Yeah I get that but over on our board you've just said that other than CM there isn't much of a difference man for man between our two sides. In reality, we are superior in ST, AM, CB and GK too. I'll give you FB because Walker has gone and Rose has gone to **** but on paper this has just as much to do with the lack of objective quality as it does the manager.
We have a few top class players in our team : Bellerin, Koscilenly, Ozil, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan. But we have no ****ing midfield to speak of, especially a holding midfielder, so our defence is always on the back foot. I know Cini wants to blame Wenger for everything, and he takes responsibility for a lot of it, but we simply don't currently have the personnel in the team to challenge.
Centre midfield is obvious because... well ours is **** and gets overrun by 90% of teams in the PL. But otherwise... What other evidence is there? Your defenders better than ours? Maybe. But they're shielded by an infinitely better midfield and an attack that helps out with defending. Lloris vs Cech? Negligible. Swap them over and neither team's trajectory would change. Kane vs Auba... Probably Kane yes. Attacking midfielders? It's your unit that impresses me rather than the individuals. Eriksen, Son and Alli have equivalents in terms or raw ability throughout Europe. Son and Mkhi have similar bundesliga records. Son has won nothing at spurs, and neither have Ali or Eriksen. There is objective quality there in our team and ****load more trophy winners than spurs have. Winning trophies is as objective as you can get. And yet we're **** and you're not
Disagree about Koscielny. As for Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang, @cini65 this is what I was talking about. They WERE world class. So was Shevchenko before he moved to the PL. Let's see how they do on these shores before passing judgement. Mikey in particular looks totally lost when up against teams who can actually defend.
Well then you're wrong about Koscielny Mhkitaryan and Aubameyang have only played two games for us, so you can't say 'let's see how they do before passing judgement' and then say Mkhi looks 'lost'
The general gist of your argument is logical. But when SO many players join arsenal and turn ****, or when SO many leave arsenal ans suddenly become consistently better and big trophy winners... then I start looking for alternative ideas.
Focusing on CM as the key difference between our two sides is far too convenient. The reality is that we are where we are in the league and champions league despite the fact that Wanyama hasn't started a game since August and Dembele has been either injured or off form for a similar length of time. We have fought through games with various combinations of Dier, Winks, Alli and even Sissoko playing in those positions for the majority of games this year in all competitions.
I'm actually being generous. There is a chance that Mkhi was suffocated by Maureen's horrendously negative tactics. I assume he'll do better under Wenger. If Cini is right, he won't.
Yes and in some instances you've struggled. Mainly because Winks and Sissoko are bang average. But you still do well because they play in a system that is well trained and set up. Under Wenger all we have to go in is player ability. Put lower level players in and they'll be ****, guaranteed. Poch can coach average players and set up a system so that the team can still win. Wenger can't do that at all. So we have **** central midfielders. And a **** central midfield.
Let’s not mess around, at the end of the day if we replaced Wenger with another manager: The players would start playing better (if nothing else at least tactically they would start getting it right) And the fans would start believing again. I firmly believe those two things, so I think this alone would make our squads much closer in comparisson. Except for Xhaka. Every player you have will always be better than xhaka.
He's one of ours. We do love a scapegoat don't we. Let's target the young prospect going through a dip in form. Let's put the blame of poor coaching and defending on this kid. Lets ignore any good thing he does like putting it on a plate for Lacazette. Let's dwell on his mistakes. Whatever happened to backing our homegrown talents??
Oh do one. He's never shown any quality to suggest this is a 'dip'. He's just as unnecessary as Xhaka.
i actually think Iwobi looks okay. Tidy on the ball, can dribble a bit and pretty strong and works reasonaly hard enough. He doesn't set the world alight but theres potential there. Xhaka on the other hand should get dumped in the skip.
