Heard the first 15 minutes of the second half on the World Service, and SFC sounded lifeless. What to do? It seems the hierarchy are quite content to play Ipswich next season.
Did you watch the second half? We were embarrassing. No fight, no desire, no quality. That second half was a training session for you.
Cheers page Good luck for the rest of the season, Salah is a hell of a player... Just don't even think about winning anything while Adam is there
No honestly, Saints played some beautiful football, the sting was missing but your game was nice. Some Prem clubs, including Man U play boring football, Saints play proper footy.
Yep, I hope that the first half Saints turns up for the rest of the season, we were good, offensively at least, in the first 45 today.
I feel sorry for the poor sod. He plays our strongest team then an injury causes him to make a change and because we don't have that great a squad it is bound to weaken us. They scored a goal that was gifted to them and then a world beater in the first half and we had matched them with plenty of chances of our own. The second half they controlled the game and saved themselves for the midweek game. It was all rather scrappy. What frustrates me is that footballers and football managers must be thick they never watch and learn. Every time we play a team that closes us down we haven't a clue what to do and why we don't turn defence into attack more quickly worries me. If you run at players and you have runners with you and pass forwards you get in the opposition half and stretch them and have opportunities. ****ing about with ten passes that don't get you out of your own half with the ball back for the keeper to launch up field only for it to get swept up by their centre backs takes us nowhere. The football we play has got us into the relegation places. It sure as ****ing hell isn't going to get us out of it. Finally I have to thank Klopp for rubbing our noses in the fact that we flogged them all our best players. Our financial model which so many people on here like may make sound business sense but it is a disaster as far as our product is concerned. Imagine Ford making cars that were **** and didn't give a **** about their customers but proud because they were making good money. It wouldn't be long before people stopped buying their cars and then they would be ****ed. I now feel a bit like the idiots who voted for brexit in that I hope that we get relegated to punish financially the people who have ****ed it up for us fans. Rant over and I am going to get another glass of Scotch well Irish actually.
"He has to be sharp at one thing; score goal and evidence suggests he cannot do that." Pretty critical Id say
Exactly - Swansea didn't seem to have any problems, with Liverpool arguably at a confidence peak in that game a few weeks ago.
I didn't expect to feel this low, at all. I've spent the week predicting a 2-0 loss, and being perfectly fine with it. They're Liverpool, they're probably the fastest team in the league, with a player of the season contender up front. A 2-0 loss would hardly cause any GD impact, and should be easy enough to brush off and forget about. So when you consider that I thought we played well in the first half, I was content at HT despite being 2-0 down. Had no problems. And then that second half had to come. It's taken us all of about five minutes to return back to playing well for one half (but still not well enough to have any concrete to show for it), and absolutely dire for another half. If MP is still on the touchline at Turf Moor, I'm not backing us to stay up. For the first time, I am seriously, seriously concerned. And I never expected to feel like that off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool. I'm looking around the table, and I'm struggling to scramble three sides together who will turn out to be more inept than us. Thought Lemina played well until his injury, JWP played well in the first half, and that Carrillo looked promising. And at the other end of the scale, Bertrand possibly had his worst ever match for us.
I've said this on another board but when Liverpool came out in that kit did anyone else think we'd sold them our stewards too?
We played pretty well in the first half with the exception of the Hoedt mistake for their 1st goal. I actually thought 1-1 at half time would have been a fair reflection but then they went and scored a very well worked goal. Second half was a complete disaster though.
By the way, I was actually somewhat impressed/supportive of his first two changes (assuming that Lemina was injured, which it looked like it was). I felt sorry that MP was getting cries of "you don't know what you're doing" when he took JWP off, because frankly JWP was non-existent in the second half (not that I'm going to particularly criticise JWP - the entire team stayed in the dressing room at HT). Yes they didn't work in the slightest, but they were positive. But he then had to waste it with his third change. Gabbi sitting there, even Redmond for god sake. But no, Davis. It was as if he was sticking his forward passes straight out of the play, or to a Liverpool player, to justify his usual game of sideways or backwards passing.
Yep, I never leave early usually, but I did today, we could still be playing now and not have threatened their goal.
