Not blaming him. He has to be sharp at one thing; score goals and evidence suggests he cannot do that. So there is no blame implied. He had one very good chance and directed his header straight at the keeper, but to be expected given his history.
The manager and the board haven't resigned but i certainly have! Static in defence, predictable going forward. Has there been the slightest improvement since the start of the season?
Nearly every result went against us this weekend and we then put in a pathetic performance like that in the second half. Liverpool have not become a solid outfit over night and other sides around of us would of rolled their sleeves up and imo had Liverpool on the back foot in the second half.. I would expect MP to be fuming with the team in his post match interview after that but he won’t be...
The players have accepted relegation! Gone are the days, when LeTiss, Egil, Pahars, Benali etc battled against the drop. The only possible hope now, is sack Pellegrino, bring in a new voice, and get this team motivated again!!!
Aside from the dreadful Hoedt mistake I thought we were good in the first half. Our midfield trio dominated their two but the second goal killed us. Liverpool moved Firmino back into midfield and Lemina came off and we just looked beaten. We matched Liverpool in the first half but in the second we just lost our shape and were outplayed. The shots in first half to second sum it up nicely. (5-5; 1-11)
Left early because I was so disgusted at what I witnessed in the second half. As professionals, those players should be ashamed and embarrassed, especially as they are supposedly fighting for our PL future. The first half was good and encouraging, but an individual error and a World class goal scuppered us. After the break all the players just hid (especially after Lemina was subbed) and their Keeper barely touched the ball. There was something badly lacking in the team's mentality and attitude in the second half, it was like they had given up, not good in a relegation battle.
I suppose the only positive to take from this weekend is that our GD didn't take a battering... Today feels worse because pretty much every result went against us this weekend. We were always likely to lose today, anything we got would have been a bonus. I know Liverpool are a far better side than us, but we didn't even make it hard for them which is disheartening. Difficult to see where the 3 or 4 wins we need are going to come from. Ultimately if we end up relegated it will be because we didn't beat the teams around us, not because we lost to Liverpool.
Even if it is Liverpool, you don't just throw in the towel, the fans that have paid should see 100% effort from their team.
I did not write it was a "sitter"; l wrote a "very good chance". I reiterate; no criticism because he is not an accomplished finisher and has not been throughout his career.
How people are slagging off carillo is beyond me wtf did he have to work with all game !?!? 1 good cross from JWP which he got up and got a good header on target. Our crossing today was ****ing shambolic , the guy worked hard and fed of scraps for the whole 2nd half, the lad did ok! Let's have it right if Liverpool didn't need to get out out 2nd gear today had they done we would have lost 0-6. The whole team need to ****ing wake up and have a good look at themselves in the mirror, otherwise we will be playing millwall away again next season.
He has barely played. Give the guy a chance! His chance today wasnt an incredible chance, he did well to win the header but it would be hard to get any direction on that.
