reminded me of reading at home, great 1st half ..then second half, leeds came out with fire in the bellies..we looked like we had a nap..
wot more do you want---we were well on top should have been 4 or 5 up then they get a free kick on the edge of the area and a goal is scored from an unstoppable free kick---Leeds now have their tails up and get an equaliser--until recently our team would have folded and lost the match-they didnt and we created some more chances by which we could have won the game===only moan I have is we didn'y bury them in the 1st half
we should have been re composed at half time, and intent on comiong out and regaining our 2 goal lead.....what does he say to them in there? every throw in , they got they where running to the ball..we jogged over, no enthuiasm....leeds wanted it more second half..more passion...and that spills from the manager...but if he speaks to them like he speaks on the radio, its hardly surprising..as much passion as a wet fish,,
Hmm, I agree with you to a point, but Leeds' horrible tactics slowed the game down a bit in the second half. We're a much better football side than them and it showed, but they soon realised they could slow it all down by being massively dirty.
As you say don't know what happened at half time. it was like a different team, resorted to the hopeful big punt up the park with the passing absolute crap at times. Maybe I was expecting to much after they played as well for the first half. just find it very frustrating when you see what they can produce . and let teams off the hook when we should have been out of sight. Still we are heading in the right direction Roll on Saturday and 3 points at Scunny
They got their goal at a good time right before the break, bit harsh to criticise Pearsons team-talk. If anything we were too good in the first half and should have been out of sight.
its a common theme tho imo..sheff united away, murdered them..then came out completely them back in...only to nick it last kick..reading as ive mentioned....crystal palace away, poor game but marginally better side in 1st half..palace should have had 5 or 6 in the second half.........quite often you get poor 1st half performances then a team comes out second half with the managers words ringing in there ears..we seem to do the oppisite......shouldnt need it in a game like tonight anyway, but once it went to 2-2 i think pearson would have took the draw if offered it...we where slowing set pieces down like the away side..leeds wanted to get on with it and win the game..
Norwich, Leicester, Barnsley Away all better 2nd half, swings and roundabouts. 3 off the line last night in the 2nd half. UTT
Sorry dj cant agree the fact Leeds come out stronger in the second half was down to the timing of there 1st goal. When 2-0 up the next goal is the most important its rather game over or game on. Nigel Pearson for me has been fantastic watching Chester,Stewart, Evans and fryatt last night showed what a great job hes doing! As for his interviews i dont really care how he sounds weve had a manager who loved the media and i prefer pearson by a milel
Have to agree with interviews, prefer Pearsons approach, we don't need a performing seal running the team!
If some are suggesting that Browns Team talks where more inspirational I would suggest that they remember the results of the last 18 months of premier life. Also if we look at the team they are now mostly from the English speaking world and therefore should follow the gist a lot more.
The first half last night was the best football we've played all season, we're definitely improving, it's disappointing that their goal knocked the stuffing out of us at half time and we never got going in the second half, while they improved. Anyone who's met Nigel will tell you he's a great bloke, very passionate and absolutely nothing like the way he comes across on tv or on the radio. Sorry dj, but I'm afraid this 'as much passion as a fish' thing is bollocks.
Maybe Simon Grayson gave an inspirational half-time team talk to his side. We never seem to credit other teams for playing better a bit better, just concentrate on how bad we are. All the times we hear the moans of other managers saying it was their worst performance of the season when we beat them. Seems some are falling into the same trap here.
i expect most to disagree..and thats fine...i dont like him, never have...i dont like managers who think about not losing instead of going for the win...unbeaten runs are overrated, you could go a full season unbeaten and still be in a releagtion scrap with 46 points....win 2 - lose 2....far better then 4 draws for example....anyway, guess its just something ill just have to accept im in a minority on this one.
It's really hard to maintain the same level of performance and concentration for the whole 90 mins. Especially when you have a 2 goal lead. A game will ebb and flow and sometimes you'll be on top whereas other times the opposition will start to assert themselves and you have to weather the storm. I don't know what Nigel's team talks are like but presumably his talk before the first half must have been good, if that's the way were going to judge them! Why would he be different at half time to how he was before the match? I think there are a lot more factors at work in the players' psychology (in both teams) than just the tone of the manager.
I've got this hunch we might go and hammer some poor side 5-0 soon.. remember Saints in the fog? we're revving up.. very tru OLM that first half was inspiring.. hats off to leeds (for their two goals) but **** off to leeds for knocking out Rosenior..
