And that my friends coupled with the Trotters result is why BCFC will again be kicking the bladder around in div two next term.
Even though we have only won once in the last 5 games, I'm surprised we haven't dropped out the top 6 yet, all the teams around us are dropping points as well, yet we are still only 7 points off 2nd.
At 3.0 up, it's down to the Captain and the Manager to discipline our players, full concentration the entire 90 mins +. Unforgivable to not take 3 points from that game.
We seemed to have the run of the ball before Christmas. From what I saw of the highlights yestetday we certainly didn't get our fair share of luck. Our naive decisions, on and off the pitch also helped Sunderland escape with a point.
Spot on sparky that was a disgrace, how we let them pull three goals back.LJ got it completely wrong.Six and slipping down, Leeds and Fulham next don’t get any easier.
well you obviously aint no good at maths... and certainly aint no good at reading and digesting any little snippets of information you read or hear!..... IQ zero comes to mind, BUT you did comprehend trotters and bladder so likely IQ 3
OS - I think it's a classic case of a lower league team that have beaten top flight opposition, gave a brilliant account of themselves drawing plaudits from all over the world, but the players now don't seem to be able to readjust back to the bread and butter of this league. We should have taken a minimum 4 points from Bolton away and Sunderland at home, especially having been 3-0 up inside 37 minutes. It should be a case of how many, rather than will we even end up with a point. The next 3 results will determine our destiny. For me it's Wolves and Villa for the top 2. Derby, and Cardiff for 2 of the next four places, leaving the remaining 2 Play Off spots to be fought over by us, Preston, Fulham, Sheffield Utd, Middlesbrough and possibly even Norwich,
So much hyberbole in here... Diony missed a couple of chances but played in a team which was much poorer second half. You can't come in and make an impact if the team isn't playing great. Sunderland had a good spell for 20 or so mins in the second half but by no means were they the better team prior to that. Yes, it's a really **** result, but we were seriously unlucky. Combine that with some poor decision making from LJ (I think we can let him off for this one to be fair), and it produced what was a somewhat freak result. The one frustration for me was Kent's greed yet again. I can forgive a poor performance but he just stinks of thinking he's better than the team. Granted that's a bit harsh given I don't know him, I can't really back it up but it is how I feel. Basically. Diony will come good, he has glimpses of pure class. Our season is not over. Stop panicking.
Though I largely agree with this, our bad form has now gone on long enough to suggest that bad luck isn't enough to explain the poor points return. Recently it seemed our problem was scoring goals whilst conceding just the one, so when Diedhiou returned I thought that'd be a big help (three goals in three I think?), but then we suffer a defensive implosion like this! I don't know if it's reasonable to link it with Baker's suspension, but we ought not to be in such disarray as a result of his absence. Hopefully his return from suspension and Pisano back from injury will see us good for the run-in. There's not much to be gained from complaining and saying 'we've bottled it', but we really could do with posting some wins to get some confidence back. I don't think we're far off, but perhaps the problem is more psychological than anything else? People might worry about the prospect of playing teams like Leeds and Fulham, but I instead think they're great opportunities to put one over our rivals and give us the shot in the arm we need.
Yeah I think we're in agreement, my point was that there's no need to panic but I agree that things aren't all rosy. In fairness, we had that drop in form around the Man City games, that's fine. But since then, it's only the Norwich and Bolton games that have been completely unacceptable. We beat QPR, a draw at Derby is no shame, and Sunderland was just Sunderland. It does seem that we're somewhat fragile and reliant on certain players, most crucial of all I'd argue is Korey Smith, but we're a young team not used to being in these positions, to be frank. I actually think that if we don't go up this year, and I'm not necessarily expecting us to, I do think that we're extremely well placed to mount a serious challenge next season. Players like Walsh, Pisano, and possibly Diony, will feel like new signings once properly integrated.
I think our confidence was shattered following the 5-0 defeat by Villa....I know it was put down to tiredness, but I felt it knocked the stuffing out of us.... I think maybe a 5-0 victory over Sunderland, might well have restored us, especially when we were on our way to it..
Lets not get too carried away, yes it was a major disappointment to let a 3 goal lead slip, but if we learn from it ahead of 3 big games coming up then that is something. Better to do it against Sunderland than Fulham, Leeds or Cardiff..
I was disappointed with the performance even at half time at 3-0. I met a friend of mine from Swindon in the back of the upper Lansdown and we agreed that although it’s great to be 3-0 up, the football was actually shocking. Passes going astray, hoofing or heading the ball high when it would be easy to trap it and play on the deck. Sunderland were awful and are heading down - we were a tad unlucky with the 2 own goals but should never have been in the situation where a random ricochet could be so dangerous. I would NOT have taken Reid off. Although lightweight at times he was causing them problems. What little they DID create came down our left flank and although I’m not his biggest fan I think we should have put Magnusson there to neutralise it. To summarise;absolutely gutted with a wasted 2 points, but we are still in the playoffs and a step closer to having key players back from injury and bans.
