I am beginning to think much of our problems has been around fitness. I say this because of Klich in Holland. When he went there he was on the bench and getting a few minutes at the end. The last 2 games have given Utrecht their first 2 wins of the year with Klich driving the game, however he has run out of steam and been brought off on 75mins for both of those games. Dutch press asking questions of Tommy.

This is assuming PH is a better coach and tactician than Thomas, if he isn’t then we have a problem.... Until PH has a fully fit and available squad we won’t know who our best players are in working together, I agree under Thomas and his formation Hernandez, Alioski and Saiz were at times awesome together.

I don’t see though how PH will fit them all into his preferred formation(s)

Yesterday he played three up front but it wasn’t three strikers, he stuck Roofe and Alioski out wide, far too wide in my opinion. Who were our worse players? No coincidence it was these two as they both looked lost.

Sheffield played a system that made them look pretty stupid, Alioski must have been told to press but Sheffield played a little triangle around him, sucked over Forshaw and before you knew it large gaps were appearing.

IF PH wants to play that again Alioski will have a job getting into a fully available squad as he isn’t suited to it. I like Alioski, he has a part to play in the right formation.

I know there are lots saying we played better but first half we were truly awful, I’m holding back my judgement on PH and formation/players until he has a few games under his belt and everyone to choose from.

I’d keep Alioski, he and Roofe were asked to play a very strange position in no mans land yesterday, Roofe can piss off though. First he asks to be subbed as he ran out of steam then yesterday he is okay to continue then 10 minutes later he discovers he has a loose tooth and comes off before a sub is ready leaving us with 10 min for 5 minutes.

He then appears in the dugout after half time with nothing wrong. If he was concussed he’d be taken off to hospital receiving attention, pansy cake.

Ristac is correct we had a striker who toiled alone as usual for most of the game. I dont think we will see what PH is capable of until we see what team he puts out when everyones back. Its obvious Grot has been sent to the kids as we have Lassoga, Ekuban, Roberts plus Roofe. I would love to see Roberts, Ekuban and Lassoga in harness together but for that you need 3 Forshaws behind plus no room for Saiz Pablo or Alioski

The team PH puts out will have a different dimension to it I hope. It may show poor players actually being very good because of the new tactics. So we have to wait before kicking Phillips Viera, O’Kane, Alioski, Roofe, Cibicki out of the club

Worryingly I pretty much agree with that

Incidentally I heard Heck say Pablo did not start because not 100% so even more likely he will start after making a big difference when he came on

Roofe just isn’t effective playing on the left, he is better as striker but unfortunately not likely to get a lot of game time in that position

Although I agree Alioski and Sais work well together I do have a concern that those two plus Pablo are not the physically most strong.

Next season we will have no Pablo, he hasnt yet been offered a contract, is the oldest member of the squad, cannot play game after game after game, and in fairness he shows some flashes of brilliance but can also be inefective and quiet in some games.

So will we place more emphasis on Saiz to take over all Pablos duties or will we try and bring in another flair player for midfield. Forshaw is capable of doing that role, but we need steel in the middle more than flair. O’Kane, Phillips & Viera have all struggled and we get whichever 2 selected having bad games at the same time. For me PH has to try something different

I always had an inkling the training was taking to much out of the players, now, Heckythump has a job to turn the training tactics around and bring the lads up to their required fitness levels, that's going to take a bit of time for the bodies to adjust, and readjust.....:emoticon-0148-yes:

Makes more sense now about the Spanish training camp, which was supposed to sort out their fitness? Looks more like fitness of the squad being looked at by an outside analyst as club fitness guy also sacked? When was the last time we saw our team perform flat out for the full 90 minutes this season? I dont think we have as we are usually coming from behind and chasing it in the 2nd half. Looks like the first half the boys are pacing themselves which catches us out every time

Just watch the hudders game and just before the forth goal some hudders player whips his tackle out when the camera is pointing at the bench. One for you Brizzy <ok>

Surely it is the complete opposite of what you thought then as you felt they were over trained? I don't see how they can be over trained and now their fitness levels need bringing up a level?

When Thomas was sacked, the fitness guy and assistant Blackwell went with him. When PH came in he was permitted to bring two with him and he brought a "Head of Sports Science" and his right hand man both from Barnsley...

I didn't realise we have a guy from Spain Beñat Labaien who is our opposition analyst....

I don't get all this fitness malarkey, a player is either injured or not fit.
If he is not fit he should not be employed, they are supposed to be professionals, if they take the wages they should make themselves fit end of.

i get sick of seeing our players wearing that sports bra that has satnav tracking and can tell how far you run, how often you run, how much energy you burn, how often you get ahorn, fancy a dump...... suppose we have to accept that each team will have different parameters set up, just wondered if Tommy had a low threshold which means players blow up too easy. How mnay times have we seen zero effort in the first half then have to come from behind in the 2nd half. Milwall made me feel proud because every player left on the pitch blew a gasket trying. Only time this season all have put effort in
