Why do people think louder means better?

  1. I've seen surveys, and one has just been on SSN. Liverpool, according to their survey, have produced the loudest noise, and are therefore the more passionate supporters in the league.... <doh>

    What a crock of ****.

Passion means you sing consistently througout the match, and in every away game i went to last season - Everton, Liverpool, City, Blackburn and Stoke - even though all those clubs have records of the highest decibels produced, except from Blackburn, they have **** home support.

Liverpool only sang their ****ty "you'll never walk alone" song before the match, then after that they made a noise only when they scored.

Everton fans were ****ing pants. The only noise they made was the booing of their team after full time.

Citeh fans were ****, only started singing after the penalty they shouldn't have had, they did that stupid Poznan dance, then when we scored, they were silent until Adam Johnson scored in the 75th minute.

Stoke fans.... how ****ing over rated are they? When they do sing, boy are they loud, but they rarely do. They only started singing consistently after going 3-0 up. Before that they must have sung about 1 song 3 times over and that's it...

We're not always 100% of the time great support at home. There have been a few wednesday nights in the PL that have been really ****e tbh.

But most days Newcastle fans are signing for at least 75 minutes of a 90 minute match, and even when we're losing poorly, we always urge our team to go on. We went 2-0 down after 8 mins vs City and home and the fans still got behind the team.

Going 4-0 down to Arsenal knocked the stuffing out the fans for a bit, which is understandable, but the fans still gradually got behind their team, and how the atmosphere starting building as we chased the lead was epic.

    Rant over.

Gotta slightly disagree a bit there. From a Leazes seated position the atmosphered isn't what it used to be. and the sole reason being the away fans being moved from the corner to above us. Our fans who used to sit above us would get the banter going with away fans then it filtered down to the quiter ones around me, now they stay schtump all game. They need moved back, the singing section needs putting Leazes level 7 and then maybe the atmosphere will return to how it was 5+years ago.

Are you sure it's not TalkSport?

They had Liverpool , Man United , Villa , Everton , Blackpool , Stoke (in that order) louder than us <doh>

I can agree with Stoke as I've been to the Britannia and they are VERY loud but the rest is a joke.

  7. Stoke are loud at times, but they're quiet for almost all the match.

The thing is with these grounds is there pretty compact and the sound will echo and be magnified, so makes them sound louder than they are, our ground is open and the sound travels out rather than around

Stoke have mics just before the first row of seats to enhance the noise of their fans.

I wish they'd bring standing back, THEN it would be loud.

I honestly dont give a **** because there's few places that compare to St James and some made up stat wont convince me otherwise.

Stoke also have microphones pointed at the crowd and huge speakers. It's enhanced to make them sound louder than they are.

From the away games I went to last year, I'd rank them in this order (loudest first)

    Stoke
    WBA
    Villa
    Birmingham
    Everton
    Chelsea

Now, Stoke were loud when they went 3-0 up, if it wasn't for that they'd be further down. WBA are generally okay, been there about 4 or 5 times, Villa, Birmingham and Everton were all very similar, barely a peep from any of them. But Chelsea by a long way were the worst. Absoulutely terrible.
