Renamed the thread to be about all sports other than Spurs - possibly give it some longevity.

Anyone going to watch the Davis Cup? I expect one of the most one-sided ties ever with Murray and Kyle Edmund out. Not many of us have heard of Liam Broady or Brydon Klein for the good reason they are ranked below 300 in the world. With our top 2 we have a chance with most, without either of them none.

  2. Chippy is a bit old now, isn’t he? <yikes>

Or in other words - no, haven’t heard of either! <laugh>

He's also a little too Irish. Anyway, don't mention him. Still remember being at Highbury looking down his shot, bent with the outside of his left foot in the NLD passed Mark Kendall. And, to save my life, I had to cheer it <grr>. Years of therapy needed to get over that moment.

That goal cost me big time. I was 15 and I took my then 11 year old brother to the game. He begged me to and despite knowing that I'd get **** for it, I did. When Brady scored and ran to The Shelf there was a huge surge of very angry fans. You'll see Brady's facial expression change and he suddenly runs in the opposite direction. A wise move in the circumstances.

My brother was knocked off his feet and in the crush he broke his arm. I had to ring my dad from the hospital and tell him and he wasn't in a good mood to start with. I won't go into details but I can confirm that nothing good came out of it and the fall out permanently changed my life. I can't watch that goal.

My memory was that it was Highbury! I know I was with my cousins - all Gooners - so I must have been in the away end. Not sure why they would take me to WHL.

It's a great month for sports fans

RL Super League season started yesterday

PL darts started yesterday - van Gerwen thrahed world champion Cross 7-2

    Six Nations rugby starts tomorrow

Tri-nations T20 cricket tournament between Eng, Aus & NZ starts tomorrow

Davis Cup tie in tennis underway (as already mentioned).

And of course, football gets more interesting with the CL returning

Typical, this thread goes all sports almost exactly a month after Wrestle Kingdom...

Cameron Norris. Didn't know he was playing but he did superbly. Beat the world number 23 on their favourite surface

I have a confession. I stayed up and watched it. I suffer from tinnitus and some nights, I can't sleep. The last Superbowl that I watched was in the early 80's.

I was entertained, apart from the half-time entertainment. It was a good, even contest and it went down to the wire. In short everything you need to make a sporting encounter. I was reappraising my views.

However, it would appear that this was the greatest game of all time, an absolute classic......Ah, as you were then, sleepless nights only.

Maybe you have to see it live? Nah, bollocks to that, doing 2 x 45 minutes at Wembley in December/January is all my old bones can suffer. The average Superbowl lasts 3 hours 45 minutes. I'd be dead from hypothermia by the time Janet Jackson gets them out.

Quite a few of the England team gave him a bit of a helping hand, though! Disappointing!
