We have players who are valuable to us, but none is going to ship out to sign the majority of players in our squad. The only players who have any serious sell on are Gradel, Howson, Becchio and Snodgrass. At the moment, no one is going to pay over £500k for players like Nunez, Clayton, Sam, Somma etc. if they would even be prepared to pay that.
How long is left on those contracts as well? Any player nearing the end of their contract is pretty much worth nothing. Teams may offer a good amount if they want someone that much but in terms of actual value...
Calm yourselves Lonrergan was out of contract I believe when we got him for £200K from PNE,& when you think d'Gea was bought for £18.3M & he's ****e I don't think Lonergan's overvalued at £2m. Don't think the other valuations are that far off. Oh & I forgot to add on a fiver for Paynter.!
If Lonergan was completely out of contract we would have got him for free. Was he in his last year/six months? We were desperate for a GK remember, would we have put that amount in if we COULD have waited another 6/12months? I don't think we would.
I dont often use the word absurd, but I think now is a good time to use it for those valuations! So that`s how Bates decides how much the club is worth, he has a look on Football Manager!
The players are worth however much they're wort to us. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about them, if they don't pay what we think they're worth we don't sell. Look at the ridiculous amounts Henderson and Carroll etc. went for.
Once again i believe our squad is valued at around 17-20 mill. No more than that! 21 mill max if we was talking stupid figures!
I've never done football manager, Ok I'll admit my valuations as a whole are probably £7m over so that's £28m valuation of a 25 man squad. Also when valuing a squad with regards finding the value of the club I think you'll find its determined on what each player is insured for should their career be ended by injury,in Claytons case the cost of finding a player of his calibre, sending him on loan for a season, training him etc.basically the overall cost of replacing him with a player of similar ability to what he is now.
I don't want some dodgy asian sugar daddy taking over. I don't trust them. But in saying that I don't know the alternative.
I agree Shako, just someone who provides a bit more clarity as to where the money ends up would do. I'd be quite happy with someone who reinvests more in the team, explained where the Delph money, compensation money went etc. We don't need a billionaire, with our income from attendances etc & no debts we could easily afford a modest £4m transfer outlay each season & things would run along pretty smoothly, gradually building a squad & eventually getting to the PL. The club runs itself basically.
The value of the club is as much in the future earnings or revenues as it is in the current squad and ground value. If we were a publicly quoted company - which we aren't hence Uncle Ken doesn't have to provide as much info - the share price would be a reflection of the expected future earnings. Given that on the FLS they said 'Leeds are a big club' that could make up a reasonable amount onto the value. Dunno how much current league position would affect it.
