Someone stated thta the dictator would make a statement on his radio station concerning Gradel at 1 today did anyone hear it.My guess is that he said the usual we can,t agree on a new contract therefore we will have reluctantly decided to sell him!He will probably sell him on deadline day so that he doesn,t allow SG TO REPLACE HIM OR BUY ANYONE ELSE with the funds!
No he just said we are keeping our best players and he isnt going anywhere. Sorry to poop on your Bates hating party.
On the point of Gradel, all Bates says is that he's staying (for this season). Doesn't portray him in a good light or a bad one. I do see some sense in us waiting till after the transfer window to negotiate contracts so players don't get their agents bullshitting about moves away to gain leverage in the wage bargaining, but if we insist on waiting till December again, I'll fail to understand Harvey and Bates' laziness once again. Do it in September, you ****es!
i dont really understand why the waiting, he shoulda been offered a contract straight after the QPR game last season pretty much.
Gives us a better chance of us retaining him if contract talks get cocked up (rather than it being pre-transfer window and his agent looking for a move out of Leeds all summer) and of keeping his wages reasonable rather than him pointing to other clubs as potential destinations who've shown interest and would offer more. One of the few miserly moves from Bates which I support, though I'd imagine it's standard practice at most clubs.
But now Gradel can see light out of the end of the tunnel should he believe the grass is greener on the other side (Sorry, I'm doing my Jim from The Apprentice impression ;-) ) If this was sorted before interest mounted and agents buttered up by clubs I believe we would be in a better position!
It`s a shame we are the guinea pigs in all this, but if other chairmen adopted Bates stance of not being held to ransom by players/agents etc then football would be a much better place, with more realistic money being bandied about, and that in turn leading to cheaper ticket prices for the fans, as all we are doing is paying the players ridiculous wages.
Phil, I've never liked him, mainly because of his past connections and utter contempt for Leeds United fans. But I was willing to give him a chance. But even my patience has run out with him. IMO he hasn't changed and deep down he still hates the club and fans. No one will invest in this club with him at the helm. So IMO he holding the club back.
I agree Phil, but it has to be a unified approach through all of the leagues otherwise there is no parity and somoene has to take the fall. Us?
Wait until you see what happens with the "Hotel". We're building for the future I tell you. You won't believe the 2012/13 squad. I should warn you that I've got Luciano and Davide scouring the forums for just such trolling from their sick beds, and I'll be adding 25% to your season ticket renewal if you carry on like that young man.
I'm not about to let the cat out of the bag until the transfer window closes, but let's just say it's easier to get planning permission for a "Hotel" than for certain other types of dormitory facility.
