He will never be Richard to me. He is a bare faced Judas. He has betrayed 25,000 Charlton fans.

    That's harsh.

A few ITK-ers have put their reputation on the line. Eventually we'll see whether any of them are genuine. The News Shopper reported a couple of weeks ago the Roland was prepared to lower his £50m asking price. Did Roland phone them up to tell them? :emoticon-0127-lipss. I'd be confident that any serious negotiations would be confidential, so the only fact I am certain of is that Roland wants to sell, and there are interested parties.

We must be a horrible club to own. The usual
Fan Bullies will soon beat a path to the next owner’s door with their list of demands.

Roland seems to be the kind of guy who wakes up one day and go in a completely direction than he did the day before. Second guessing him is pointless.

All more or less what we want to hear - which, unfortunately, is reason enough to be sceptical.
And on the subjects of the training ground and the Valley, how could he say anything else?

    Any suggestion that
    A) We would lose the training ground
    B) We would become RD's tenants at the Valley
    C) The new owners plan to move Charlton away from Floyd Road

and (to use an antiquated military expression) the balloon goes up. Mr Murray doesn't want to be within a mile of any self-respecting Charlton fans when that happens.

Murray just loves feeling important & that he is still part of the action. Some info is better than nothing, but what has he actually said there of substance ?

Murray’s first words to the next owner:

“I can be your link to our fans. They love me. Model Premier League Chairman”.

I would have thought that as Dicky is on the periphery of the takeover discussions then he will not be involved when the new owners take control. ... just IMHO!

Not too much reason to get steamed up about this. I'm quite happy to take it on face value as it's basically goodish news - if it's wrong we'll run into that news son enough.
I do get the feeling from rumours that Murray wants to still be involved, which seems idiotic to me as given his recent health issues, and the way the club nose dived during his last turn at holding the reins, you'd think he might fancy sitting in the upper north and singing the Naby Sarr song with his mates and just enjoying the football experience. Some people just can't let go....

Perhaps Roland has said to Dick "Don't worry I will look after you"....... we all know how that will end for Dicky... just get him to talk to Robinson about Roland's promises <laugh>

The bit that worries me most about his statement is this line....
“The training ground for any buyer is quite key as well. They realise that for a club like us the academy is essential"

'For a Club like us'' - Considering how the academy has been used in the last few years, I hope the plan isn't 'more of the same'.....a player farm for the benefit of other Clubs.

    I re-read @DickPlumb link

Accepting that Murray couldn’t say much, even what he did say proves again he is a dud with no ambition for Charlton. Anything goes, so long as he gets to stick around for the next owner, and the next, and the next ....

He never had any real ambition to take Charlton to the next level, he just got lucky with Curbs.
Murray always put a limit on the Club. If he hadn't of let his ego get in the way in 2004, he could have sold the Club for a tidy profit instead of selling Parker.

His main motivation now is to stick around with the hope that he gets his money back.

i read it as good news. especially the bit about price no longer being a problem. aside from this, there should be no doubt that it will go through at some point. it doesnt matter when. i regard this season as a write-off so as long as RD is gone before May, i'd be happy.

He can always fork out and buy a season ticket if he loves the club so much. Put on a wig, mix with the hoi-paloi and no-one would know.
